its been 16 teams minimum for every tourney, i assume this is the same

tbh the threshold shouldn't matter, we should be working to get as many actual eu teams signed up as possible anyway.

That's a mistake, it will be fixed. Our NA Announcements usually go out a week after the EU announcement.

actually ridiculous to not sign up for this now. theres a prize pool, the top teams have their own bracket, and the time commitment is far less intense than before. get ur dang teams in and pester ur buds to do the same, this is a Big Deal!

Most of the people I know weren't even aware that this cup was happening, this cup isn't promoted that well

I agree that essentials promo blows but its been a year of these now with only one delay last month, eventually you'd expect people to remember when the only other notable online eu competition aside of etf2l (and olugc) takes place

I'd love to play this, but my team does not want to, not during the season while we scrim like 4-5 days a week :(

I agree with this, I only knew about it because i read tftv daily. If you don't read it daily you will miss the cup announcements. I think if etf2l could make a news post aswell as tftv that would help out alot.

forum threads tend to dissappear, news posts is easier seen. Its always a pain to search up the announcements threads.

can more people sign up please so we over at the frysk fan club don't only have to play prem teams thanks.

I mean hey, when most of the tf2 community only discovers that the cup is happening when they see the stream go live on the saturday/sunday, there's clearly an issue with promotion whether you like it or not

According to happiness etf2l doesnt want a post on their website which would easily increase awareness for lots of players so thats nice

To clear up any misconceptions regarding promotion, we approached ETF2L and asked if it were possible to have a news post. They declined as they wish to have their posts limited to events that are ETF2L-related which is completely understandable. I believe we are free to make a post on their forums, however.

Following on with that, I do have a query for those that criticise Essentials for lack of promotion. If what we are doing is not enough, which outlets would be beneficial and attract the most attention/signups? We currently have the promotion on TF.TV (both a Thread and Event), UGC, Twitter, Discord, TF2PL and Reddit. One or two of these haven't been done for the EU Monthly and that is entirely on me, that being Reddit and an ETF2L forum post.

That being said, where would be the first place you check if you wanted to know if an Event is on?

you should probably try to get these signup threads stickied. the event is better than just a drifting forum post, but most of those events are just etf2l/esea matches anyway, so it's still easy to lose sight of more important stuff that's happening.

it's hard though. when the standard ugc forum poster responds with stuff like this, it's tough to say what will bring them back.

Might be interesting to try to put out some kind of promotion on YouTube. I think a big part of the problem is that people don't read, and aren't informed on how the tournament has changed since January. So long as there's an attempt to make it entertaining I think it'd work out; even those weird ass STN commercials have a unique tone to them.

The issue isn't that people don't know about it, the problem is cause it's on a weekend and after scrimming 4+ nights a week before and also people have lives means people don't want to play on a weekend also seven winning everytime means it's not worth it to play most of the time.

the problem is if 2 articles a month were posted then they'd clog up other, more unique articles, and people wouldn't click on them anyway. i think the announcement threads should be stickied though

where else should they appear? the type of attention that would reach the most people (stickied reddit threads, tftv articles etc) is generally not really appropriate for something that happens twice a month since it dilutes the other content on there
