What do you do with your life aside from TF2?
(I know there must be a lot of programmers/compsci people, obviously)
It's not for a survey or anything, just out of curiosity. I'm in university right now and I find it hard to balance gaming with studies, I just want to know how you guys go along with that.

Was a Ski-lift attendant for the past 4 years. Now that Spring is here, I'm looking to find a job with my shitty 4.0 GPA in Networking (may learn C and C++ and go for a coding job instead.)

2nd year in Uni, don't play competitive since I find it hard enough to concentrate on learning as is.
Applying for internships everywhere for next year, writing ethical wallhacks in the meantime.

My $250,000 degree has only made me overqualified for shitty jobs, while I lack the required experience for good jobs.

Got my Bachelor's in Psychology, then realized I didn't want to do shit with Psychology anymore (which is why I didn't bother going for my Master's and wasting even more money). Now studying on my own to get a CCNA to become a certified network engineer.
I love donating thousands and thousands of dollars to federal loans. 8)))))))

I worked with Ubuntu and Redhat during college and then used CentOS on my senior project. Had to set it up on a server and then on a NAS box that had to be compatible with a Windows 08 server. I remember my chair was a cool guy, gave me a copy of Backtrack XD

Don't forget your A+/Net+ (which I believe you need in order to go for your CCNA, could be wrong) =)

Network Security, I took Comp sci/engineering in school. I work from home.
HUGE wall of text below so only keep reading if you're super bored.
This is based on where I live and job type, so things may be different where you live or for where you apply. But I believe this is fairly general advice. I dropped at least a letter grade because of Parties and Tribes 1 and don't regret it one bit. No one is going to hire you based on 1 extra point on your GPA, they really want experience. So you need to get your foot in the door somewhere either through an internship or via social networking (ie: friends) and then prove yourself on the job. It's really hard to start at the level you'd think you should coming right out of school and it's possible you'll drop 300 cv's before you even get an interview.
This is where the magic has to happen so you have to first work on your ability to talk to people and make them want to be around you because when they meet you they aren't thinking about your GPA, they are wondering "can I stand being with this person all day every day". So you need to work on that more than anything you'll learn in the text books. If you have to go through HR first be careful what you say to them since they are looking for something different. They want to see if you're "employable" and "healthy" and don't talk about any plans for marriage or having kids, they'll think you'll be off on mat/pat leave within 2 months of being hired.
And sometimes the path to your end goal will take many detours. I started my "career" selling wireless lan cards at airports, then got an interview (because of a friend) at a large company where I started out application testing, then 3rd level support, then sys admin for Solaris and finally Network Security and eventually becoming the team lead. I get to work from home, and as long as i bill my weekly hours against my clients, no one bothers me. If I was a religious man I'd say I was blessed. But since I'm a realist, I worked fucking hard to get where I am, and it had ZERO to do with my grades. It's all about on the job performance and being likeable. GL man!!
edit: do not let your grades slide, I got away with it but it may be your only step into the door. My key point is that the interview matters most.

You can get your CCNA with literally nothing at all. Some jobs may require an A+ cert on top of a CCNA cert, but not all. I appreciate your concern though :p.
