I'm not as sure if this is the right pleace to post, but I'll just post it anyways. I generally play Team Fortress 2 on my 15-inch macbook pro. The reason why is because I don't have anything else and I do not have money for anything other than using the bus to go to my University (Full Sail), that one school who gives macbooks to students so they can do their work in there, provided with maya, photoshop and such.
Now, when I play tf2 in maps like 2fort (where I mostly play), it was fine at first until my fps started dropping (or rising, don't know). I used to have one those mods that lowers the quality for better performance, but I never liked that things in the way that shows how much fps I'm getting. It's hard for me to explain. I'm very interested in getting a good gaming laptop like razer or alienware, because I love the techs with the bigger rams and better cards and cooling systems so much that I'd hug them all, but I'm not rich, so....lol.
I'm kind of an experienced player that mains the scout, plays the sniper, spy, and pyro with a trackpad, not a mouse. I'd play the demoman with a sticky jumper and pan just for the fun of it. I'm part of =(eGO)= and a moderator of tf2shop, blah blah blah...
Sorry if this is misleading or anything, but long story short, I wanna know if I can get better performance on my mac without the use of tf2mate.

Perhaps your mac is overheating? Crespi had the same issue:

you could maybe install the no hats mod but realistically it'll only give you like 5 or 10 more fps.

Chris' fps config should help you a lot assuming you're not already using that.

Well damn, that's shocking for me. I'm too cowardly to do this, lol, but I think this definitely helps.
