I think anyone on these forums that still recognizes my name knows that I'm not the greatest TF2 player to ever grace the scene. For a whole host of IRL reasons I stopped playing competitively after playing in IM back in S23. I never thought the best thing I did for the scene was playing in it, though. The work I did with the rest of the newbie mix admins is a much bigger deal to me, and the 1k+ players we brought into the scene over my tenure actively working with newbie mixes is what I look back on most fondly.
For anyone who doesn't know, I'm a school teacher that has been working on applying educational best practices to TF2 (because honestly I'm so freaking bored and really missed teaching). This effort has culminated in the (admittedly, slightly stacked) Newbie Mix team drive team Tino and I are coaching placing 3rd seed in the Amateur (not newcomer) division this season.

Realtalk, after coaching with kevin this season I am firmly of the belief that if you do not have a team coach, and you are outside of invite/top of div 1, you are playing the game wrong. The players would have to say themselves how effective they think the entire thing has been, but in my 10+ years of played I have never seen a team improve as fast as this one has.
Really hope to see a lot of people show up because at this point in the games lifecycle I dont think there is a single thing an individual can do to have a greater impact on the game and community.

The event will take place in 40 minutes (9 ET) in the newbie mix mumble (mumble.newbie.tf 64738). All are welcome.
If you don't want to come to the mumble lecture, there will be a recording of it that will be packaged and posted sometime on Sunday or Monday. Sorry for no stream. I want to focus on the lecture and not the tech of making the stream work. Also, my internet sucks rn.
Participants are welcome to stream if they'd like to share.
