I've personally used this for the past few years. Bought it for $40 USD, have never had an issue with it and it can use 2.4 and 5ghz networks. Not sure about EU pricing/availability though.

I killed an Asus USB adapter after almost daily use for about a year. I really am not keen on Wifi adapters, but I get that you may be in a situation like me and ethernet is not an option.
Second one I bought that hasn't broken is a D-link DWA130. It's not used daily anymore, but sometimes I swear it works better than my PCIe adapter.
