I was introduced to Dillinger Escape Plan about 7 months ago and I am fucking obsessed with them. I need more bands that sound like this.

The more aggressive and off-kilter, the better xx

Covooidk if you've ever listened to whitebelt stuff but Sawtooth Grin is pretty good

Can you explain what whitebelt is? I tried looking it up and all I found was a bunch of nerds arguing about genre tags

i highly suggest browsing through last.fm, as you can play the songs straight on the website (you can also see where these bands are about to play)
https://www.last.fm/music/The+Dillinger+Escape+Plan/+similar

edit: speaking of dillinger, right now they've got a few euro gigs going on if you wanna see them on a 25th anniversary of their first album with the og vocalist

It is also called sass(core). Characterized by a very 'sassy' vocal style with very angular guitars and jerky rhythms. Here's prolly the most popular whitebelt band, they encapsulate it well

highly recommend the fall of troy if you havent listened to them already

doppelganger, their most popular album:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4bMGBb_lyB0&list=PL-XbTEkQt3TbvYz9ExY5rDcNimy_q78sA

my absolute favs, every album is different/unique in some way in terms of their sound, but if you want that aggressive mathcore sound id recommend their self titled album, doppelganger and manipulator

theyre not quite dillenger levels of intensity at least rhythmically, but up there amongst the goats of post hardcore/mathcore/heavy prog IMO

p.s. finally got to see them live for the first time ever the other day, was fucking awesome and id highly recommend checking out some of their live footage (especially old footage)

hello lol just wanted to say thank to everybody in this thread for your suggestions. I'm really falling in love with this genre and metalcore/post-hardcore more broadly construed. Also wanted to show off my 5x5. October's been treating me fantastically, music wise =)

Show Content

Keep the recs coming and also check out Death Goals they're absolutely fucking nuts

Not exactly the same genre but Loathe are a fucking amazing band. I'm pretty sure you'll be into at least a few songs, if not loads. White Hot is my current favourite but a lot of "I Let It In" goes hard.

New meth. / See You Next Tuesday split is absolutely insane. Some of the fucking heaviest, noisiest, most violent and intense shit I've come across most recently
