From some of the aus povs I have seen, it looks like pickup games or US teams from 3+ years ago. vs teams like that, it's super easy for a player with good dm to run in and kill half the team (ex. carnage 3 years ago). That alone doesn't work now.

* I think this is very admirable, and wish it were the case for European teams too (RIP 9m). But teams like to win, and keep winning. There hasn't been much cause for iM to change their roster given their dominance of OZF.

There have actually been quite a few causes for us to change our roster in the past.

*bowt removed himself due to "university commitments", but joined another team a few days/weeks later
*Vic (our former pocket) left due to work commitments - causing my move from demoman to pocket a couple seasons ago.
*sheep has "left" at a few points in time due to work commitments, or 'taking a break from us' (or something?)
*nignig played for one season and couldn't commit anymore
*hellscream didn't want to commit to TF2 anymore and was benched
*antwa quit for a while since he got too frustrated at his internet

etc, etc.

Alas, this is all somewhat irrelevant. Just thought I'd interject there.

This is a bad example really. After a certain size, the amount of talent coming out of a country is pretty much the same. Then it becomes all about training.

There's a good point being made in that the Aus/NZ scenes are small. It means the people with top level talent are going to be much less numerous, and the best way to improve is to play with your peers. iM is pretty unmatched in Aus so the thinking isn't really OFF. However, claiming the meta is stale is a little more questionable. Euro and NA have well established metas that Aus can learn from without necessarily playing in those leagues.

Only i49 will tell and frankly, I hope iM does insanely well. Do you know how fucking incredible it'll be to see THREE undefeated teams from three leagues playing against each other at the SECOND community-sponsored world LAN tourney?

Let's make good hype and try not to shit on each other, yeah?
