Thanks to both Arenanet and community efforts, Guild Wars (not Guild Wars 2) has seen a substantial increase in population in response to the game's upcoming 20th anniversary. I was really into guild wars as a kid, but i was really bad at it so there was a ton of content I wasn't able to appreciate that I'm trying to get into now with my adult brain. I know its a bit of a longshot since its such an old game at this point, but i know there are tons of boomers here that are likely to have been around during the game's prime. If anybody is down to play feel free to add me on discord @ .myls.
If you're curious about guild wars but have never played it, its a cooperative online rpg/"mmo-lite" known for its interesting magic the gathering-esque skill system, the freedom to play with both other people and AI characters, tactical combat, and its unique take on fantasy. I'd say its comparable to TF2 in the sense that there are games that sound like it but there is nothing that is actually like it. The whole game with all of the expansions and bonus content is on sale now for 8 dollars, and there is tons of activity in noob areas so I doubt there will ever be a better time to get into the game than now.
