It's not seeing any use apart from the dozens of threads there to promote casts happening every so often.

86 threads out of a combined 2462 threads in HL + general discussion represents 3.5% of threads which are about highlander (half of which are about upcoming casts).

For an alternative, would it be useful to create a subforum for upcoming community casts (any events not on the sidebar) to create a place where people can look to see whats happening on the night?

This would keep the more engaging content in the highlander subforum (a thread about a cast is not interesting) closer to the front page (top half of the index).

There's no limit on subforums. If you don't like it or get use out of it, don't go there. It's that simple.

Aside from the highlander thing, having a sub forum for casts seems like a good idea. There are a lot of informal stream casts that happen that don't make the events tab (like what bl4nk and the mad men did earlier this season with invite games). It'd be nice to be able to simply check a sub-forum and see if there's anything like that going on.

sure ok. but there's, objectively, very few others using it too. it's a ghost town in there.

In that case, see:

Yes, let's alienate 70% of the comp TF2 playerbase.

a lot of the HL traffic is currently on the UGC forums, but i hope that they one day migrate over here. the goal for TFTV is to unite all competitive communities. that includes highlander. every single user on the UGC forums is aware of TFTV, hopefully they come over just like people did for natf2

UGC Forums are the place where people talk about HL because it's always been like that. UGC is the only league in NA that runs it so it makes sense. Also the UGC forums are the major platform for the admins to do all sorts of community interaction. Things like gathering general feedback, allstar voting, map discussion, possible changes and implementations for future seasons, the list goes on. So it'd be pretty self-centered to expect everyone to just up and move all or even most discussions to tf.tv without having some serious discussions with UGC. Personally I'm not even sure it would be possible, but I did try steering some traffic to tf.tv by doing platinum predictions all season because tf.tv is a really nice platform for creating and distributing tf2 content. But even so I would wager that the majority of the UGC player base (a lot of low level players) pays little attention to tf.tv except for maybe to watch some of the HL streams.

I guess the real question is what kind of HL discussions would people want to have here?

He really doesn't, it's equally shitty logic. Most of the HL players just prefer posting on the UGC Forums for lord knows what reason. TFTV has varying representation from every aspect of the game and every competitive scene, and to remove a subforum simply because it's not as popular is idiotic. It still definitely serves a purpose.

To add to what pudding cup said, is that everytime something is brought up in the HL subforums their's always at a minimum 1 person who does this.

Trekkielol highlander am i right?

If that doesn't happen, it's usually a cast, shit talking UGC, or infinite makes a post and it just becomes a absolute shitstorm of drama.

There's even a few people on these forums who -frag people's post because they're Highlander only players. Even the mere mention of Highlander is usually enough to inspire a bad attitude out of a few people here.

DunderBroplease lock this before it turns into a huge arguement :(

hmm. seems best to keep the hl forum separate from general discussion, if only to limit toxic attitudes and personalities from destroying the little content that is here (or what is hoped to come)

yep. best to keep it as it is, as opposed to removing it.
