If anyone is that retarded to think Gggly was being serious and has any idea of how the TF2 community works, they probably should be eliminated from the Gene Pool and their opinions probably shouldn't be heard regardless.
So censuring Gggly for his comment while it appears you have a knowledge of the TF2 community seems to put you in that category G1.
But also this ban is probably one of the most immature things I've ever seen in the TF2 community even if it is a non sequitur in the grand scheme of things. Please don't cite excuses like "People told me to". I believe you're an adult and don't need to cause drama unnecessarily.

what I gather from this is you pretty much don't want any new players to come into the scene? because, you know, being new could mean you don't know Ggglygy. If you're watching Pyour's stream, you probably know about him, mix^ and eXtv (i'm sure he talks about it), but you may not necessarily know voices or too many names. All they hear is, on a "big" TF2 stream, is "blah blah extv! lols sofunny".
i think i know where you were going, you just worded it awfully and implied things you probably didn't mean to. edit: you seem to have the unwarranted aggressive nature of the TF2 scene down, you're just missing a few literally's. :3

i'll have to stop by to watch finals if it's in rhode island. :>
i imagine it would probably be in providence or newport county or something. i live like 20 minutes away. both are pretty nice cities. newport has a lot of famous gilded age mansions and is basically the sailing capital of the world (america's cup world series hosted there). it's also host to the newport jazz festival (coltrane, davis, brubeck etc have performed there) and folk festival. moonrise kingdom was filmed in newport/jamestown/prudence island.
providence hosts the waterfire festival in the summer. thayer street is right next to brown university and has some pretty good restaurants/bars and other hipster shit.
i'm not quite sure why i felt compelled to defend the state i'm from on an internet gaming forum but who cares right!!!
be sure to check out the standard ri shit: coffee milk, clam cakes, pizza strips (bakery pizza w/ no cheese), steamed clams, ri clam chowder, chourico/linguica

G1You're saying you did it cause of peer pressure?? Thats the dumbest thing ive ever heard. you don't have a mind of your own?
Doing something against the opinion of 14 albeit "important" people in the community (for whatever that's worth in a video game community) is basically the same thing. Most people would have probably done the same thing in the given situation with that many people telling you to do it. I'm not going to collectively hate any one player because he did something that many people were telling him to do, because understandably it's extremely difficult to pass up other's judgement calls in favor of your own.
TwitchTVJohnThis shit is dumb dudes. If we want this game to grow, people need to stop with the bullshit and give people reasons to throw money at it. The game is great, the general community is great. However, when you have top players that all fucking hate each other, things can be seen in the wrong light. Seriously. Is this fucking gamebattles? Are we 13 year old kids quickscoping on MW3 on xbox 360? No. We are fucking TF2. We are important. We are gorgeous.
Everyone be friends. You are all good looking.
That ship has kind of sailed. Shit like this has been happening for a long long time. At this point there's really not much to salvage. Yesterday someone from the TF2 community, for the first time ever, someone broke 5 figures, and TF2 was only PART of the reason he made that money, and it didn't come from playing it.
I'd really want the TF2 community to grow, but when things like this start becoming more and more frequent, the decent players are starting to leave, the sponsors have all left, and all we have left is a bunch of kids fighting with eachother there is no way anyone will ever take TF2 seriously on the same level as DoTA, LoL, CS1.6, etc.

The ship sailed, then TF2 went F2P and continues to grow every day. The audience is there. The potential ROI for sponsors is infinitely higher in TF2 than any other FPS on the market. (This includes CoD and all of that jazz, as the primary market there is younger.) The PC gaming audience generally has more of the 18-35 demographic that people want to target, as we are the demographic with cash money.
TF2's best days can be ahead of it if the community learns to embrace the idea together. Otherwise it's a ticking time bomb.

This is why comp TF2 isn't going anywhere, because you idiots keep trying to create beef. Don't you guys understand this is a NA comp TF2 community? There's only around 30 people in invite and the fact that you guys can't get along and do things for the wellbeing of TF2, but try to impress people in mumble is kinda fucking sad. Like TwitchtvJohn said, this isn't a group of 12 year olds playing some shit like COD, talking about how fat each others' moms are. This is TF2, one of the greatest comp games ever, with some of the greatest gamers ever, but unfortunately we act like a bunch of 12 year olds so this game doesn't get noticed. We need to band together as a community and stop talking shit and beefing.

You're comparing apples to oranges. Dota 2 is the successor to an already widely popular title and it's being actively supported by Valve. That game had a devout community following before it even hit the alpha stages. A lot of Dota 2 players probably played Dota so they aren't exactly newbies to the game. TF2 is its own beast though. Going competitive is probably an extremely daunting goal to a newbie.
Besides that, TF2 just isn't as well respected as Dota 2, or most competitive PC games in general. To Valve, TF2 is a cash cow. To most PC gamers, TF2 is a F2P casual game. To most gamers in general, TF2 is a crappy kiddie game. This just means the community needs to treat each other well to ensure that this competitive scene doesn't die out due to lack of support, sponsors, and coverage.
Also why bump this topic :x

that's really funny because dota 2's pub community is horribly acidic, but everyone i've met on there that is getting into competitive play is super humble and always willing to help out their teammates. in tf2, the pub community is super nice and welcoming and friendly (i guess maybe it goes with how pub games are played in the first place, it's a very non-ragey environment), but then once you get into comp, it feels like most people in the community are assholes.

Yep, this game isn't popular because people in invite don't like each other
because as well all know all the top SC2 players are best friends and every dota2 team has sleep overs together.
It definitely has nothing to do with FPS being unpopular compared to other esports and that we get almost no support from our developer, definitely not.
