So as the titles says, I could use some help with my demo play. I feel my DM is pretty solid, but I could use some advice regarding positioning, traps and whatnot. So any help would be appreciated :D

Are you watching demos of good players? You could start by going to any of the various archives of demos (there's a bunch of random stuff on YouTube, too, if you just kinda want to chill and learn in your browser). Then, once you're pretty comfortable with the types of things they do, go practice in scrims or pugs--don't worry about winning, just stick to what you learned.

Eventually the type of you're aiming for will come naturally. Then, you can start recording yourself and watching your own demos, analyzing what went wrong--or right.

Here, you must choose your next path. You could race up to the Observatory. Spin the sundial, and pass into the Room of the Golden Idols. Once there, push down on their bases to release the doors, that may take you below. Or, lead you into the Shrine of the Silver Monkey. Assemble the statue, and you may be headed for the Torch Room. If the elevator is up, you can jump into the elevator and descend into the Mine Shaft. You can climb up the ladder or plow through the stone wall. Find the key, and it may unlock the Tomb of Ancient Kings, allowing you to climb into the Swamp. If you escape, you may have a chance to sit upon the Throne of the Pretender. If the correct door is unlocked, you can crawl into the Pit of Despair and finally, make your way through the Cave of Sighs and back to the Temple Gate. The choices are yours and yours alone. Good Luck.

This thread is so beautiful already.

Let's also put out there that you can try to download a woot demo or stv of his team and attempt to count the number of shots which are aimed. Place bets with friends in mumble over how many times he will stickyjump into the other team to make up for his lack of dming ability.

Understand that you're vulnerable at close range, if you're caught off guard you're dead almost every time. To remedy this stay close to your pocket and stand behind him during pushes.

You're the only class in the game that can spam over obstacles efficiently and avoid damage. Abuse things like the rock on viaduct, the nipple on gully, the house thing on snake mid, the wall on badlands bats, etc...

Traps should be an on-the-fly thing. You don't want to put up long-term trap waiting for the right moment when you should be doing damage instead. Yes you may get that 5k but if you want to be consistent throughout your games it's best to not gamble with traps like that.

Air stickies are easy as fuck. If you think someone's about to jump at you just shoot a sticky and sync it's trajectory to the soldier's predicted trajectory, that way you can hit him at any point even if he doesn't jump.

If you're charging a sticky but you decide there's nothing to shoot at just switch weapons to cancel.

Learn how to do the 45 damage sticky jump.

You always want to shoot feet to knock people up in the air. They have less control over themselves in the air which makes them easier to hit.

Sometimes it's better to shoot stickies high in the air instead of charging them for long range attacks. Takes less time which means you'll increase your DPS.

That's all I have for you right now.
