So I really like the default hud but not so much the in-game xhairs. I've been looking at videos and guides on how to switch custom xhairs in between huds but I haven't seen a how to add custom xhairs to the default hud. I tried to add konrwings to default hud by following the guide made by raysfire but it completely destroyed my game. I'm not sure if it's because I messed up or because I don't have a base resource and scripts folder to go off of. If anyone could help me out I'd really appreciate it. Sorry in advance for another crosshair thread!
If it did something such as remove your HUD completely, it's probably the result of either one too many/too few curly braces (which look like { and }, if you don't know what those are), or you're missing/added one too many quote signs to your ClientScheme.res. Double check all of the things you edited to make sure that you didn't accidentally mistype something.
EDIT: Since you're using the default HUD too, you'll have to extract the .gcf in order to actually access the default HUD's scripts/resource folders, too. However, I don't know how to do this ever since the switch over to steampipe. :<

It's exactly the same, except that you have to extract the original files/put a stock clientscheme.res into tf/custom/foldername/resource. I'm not sure exactly how to extract files under the new VPK system. Try to find a guide on how to make a HUD from scratch, including extracting the .res files, and make sure that it works post-steampipe.

No need for GCFScape after the Steam Pipe update. Just drag steam\SteamApps\common\Team Fortress 2\tf\tf2_misc_dir.vpk onto steam\SteamApps\common\Team Fortress 2\bin\vpk.exe.
