Yesterday I wanted to play TF2 so I opened it up and started playing. After maybe 30 minutes of playing, three loud "popping" noises went off. They were very loud and almost sounded like fireworks. After that my computer smelled like it was burning and of course, the computer completely crashed. It wont start back up. Anyone know what may have happened? I opened up the computer and nothing looked to be out of place but I haven't actually removed any components. Only upgrades are a video card and a PSU. The video card is a NVIDIA gtx560 and the PSU is a thermaltake. If anyone could help that would be great.

The popping was from capacitors exploding. If they are on the Mobo then you need to get a new computer. If they're in the PSU you can replace just that.

See if you can track down any burnt smells and/or smoke stains restricted to a certain area. You'll want to check the PSU first, especially if the pops were loud. Other possibilities are failed motherboard or graphics card power MOSFETs, capacitors possibly other electrical components. I would not attempt to turn on the computer again until you believe you have tracked down the issue.

If your cards and stuff look fine, and the MOBO doesn't have any strange coloration, try plugging in a different CPU and seeing if it'll boot - the thing with broken PSU's though is that they'll sometimes take other components with them, so be careful :/
