Currently running on an old 500GB 5400 RPM drive, have <50 GB left on it. I'm looking to do more video recording/editing, which is somewhat difficult when you have to compress every clip in between recording and editing, as well as music, games, etc. Looking for a drive that will last me for a while, I'll probably use my current drive for storage, so I'm looking for something with good read/write times as well as 1+ TB of storage. Running on a modern computer, so large drives should not be a problem.

Currently looking at this and this.

If you have the cash, upgrade the 1TB to WD Caviar Black. Keep your OS and apps on it, and use the 3TB for video storage.

Otherwise looking good.

i too highly recommend WD Caviar Blacks -- if you do not need it at this moment, set a slickdeals alert to email you when your search string (WD Caviar Black 3 TB? WD 3TB?)

I guess I should revise the OP, I'm only buying one drive.

I have a 1tb caviar black. I like it a lot. I've got a 128gig crucial SSD for my os and a few select programs, but I keep everything else on the caviar.

I would go with the caviar black, but the 1TB version is $170 on newegg and the 3 TB Toshiba drive I'm looking at is only $150. I guess I could wait for it to go onsale, but the difference in $/TB is a bit too much for me.
