I'm using my g500 on a qck and I've noticed some really annoying positive accel recently and it's been driving me nuts.
raw input is enabled, pointer precision is off and I've disabled the acceleration options in the Logitech software.
Is it just the sensor being shit or is my lens dirty or my mouse broken? I thought about claiming my warranty due to the coating on the sides peeling off so that might factor in as well.

it's the sensor, also the reason why people don't recommend the g500.

So the best decision would be to get a replacement g500s and to sell it off and get a mouse with a decent sensor?

yeah. if you want to stick with logitech get the g400, if not the razer deathadder 2013 and zowie fk are good mice.

Have been thinking about getting a zowie for a while now but they are like 60-70€ which is double of what I paid for my g500 a while ago, but I'll keep it in mind.
Cheers for the help I'll post in this thread again, once I talked to the customer service.

Mouses without prediction (or which can be removed), but suspected of having other flaws :
-Logitech G9 (Avago ADNS-6090). Skipping ?
-Logitech G9x, Logitech G500 (Avago ADNS-S9500). Positive acceleration.

Even though the sensor does have some acceleration, it's very small compared to the tracking problems you get using it on a cloth pad.
Try a hard pad and you may find you no longer perceive any accel, although you can't get rid of it completely.

I actually own a g500 and also happen to use a cloth pad. I'm used to it though.
I would like to let everyone know, however, that I've found a couple of things that seem to mitigate the "weird" tracking feeling.
I used to swear by 800 dpi. I think that this if from when I used an optical sensor. I have this [perhaps anecdotal] feeling that optical sensors work better at low dpi than laser sensors. A while back I switched to 1600 (keep my sens the same by cutting my in-game sens in half) and it feels much, much better.
But what I've found helps even more, is using a polling rate of 333hz.
I swear it's not a placebo. 1000hz, for me, just feels waaaay to weird, and like there is some weird ass accel going on. 500hz for me is tolerable, but, when switching to 333hz, tracking feels damn near perfect.
I know that a high polling rate like 1000hz uses cpu processing, so perhaps my personal hardware affects my ability to use 1000hz. Either way, if you use this mouse, and you use a cloth pad, I highly recommend trying a polling rate of 333hz. Even if you don't think you have a problem with this mouse and/or a cloth pad, I'd like you to try this anyway and see if you notice a difference, just for my own curiosity.

AMCI used the g400s its amazing.

The WMO has no sidebuttons. The intellimouse is basically the wmo with sidebuttons.

but way heavier and the buttons are in a weird place.
We have the wmo at school and I like the shape of it, but they are only available used but for extremely cheap. the lack of a mouse4 and mouse5 really puts me off on it though.
And thanks crespi I'll try that later today!

I've played on a hard pad before and didn't notice the accel problems that much though it feels god awful playing on a hard pad imo, I have the thick version of the qck which us like the most comfortable mousepad I had so far.

Actually from what I remember, it's not the sensor of the G500 that has accel, it's the way it's positioned inside of the mouse that causes accel

No. That's not accel. The placement of the sensor is different than most mice but accel is not a physical entity, accel comes from software.

I thought I remembered reading something on a forum saying that the placement of the sensor inside the mouse made it replicate accel
oh well
either way, i hate logitech for giving the g500 accel, if it weren't for that it'd be the perfect mouse

Playing with the g500 is exactly like playing with the g400 with mouse accel @ 1.1 in-game.
Playing with a lower polling rate seems to help some of the inconsistencies of the sensor, I played with 500hz but you can also try 333hz like someone else suggested.

regarding polling rates, from what i understand, many mice get worse performance at 1000Hz when compared to 500Hz. AFAIK, the only mice that seem to perform at roughly the same level on both are Zowie mice

changing the polling rate to 333hz and changing the DPI to 1600 made it less painful actually, haven't looked into what does more (changing DPI or polling rate)

That's good to hear, it's not just me then. Be sure to keep the sensor clean. If you haven't yet, get a good flashlight, shine it into the area where the sensor is, and look for any debris like hair. To get things out, I use a q tip, and the tip of my spudger sometimes too. Hope the new settings make it playable again for you. Good luck.
