I was under the impression that you need a beast computer to stream tf2 but it turns out that's not true. I'm running on a 9800gt, 1.8GHz core2duo and 2GB of DDR2 so I never even considered streaming. I took a look at Lange's stream performance thread (thanks) and I gave OBS a try just to see how things would play out and it turns out I can stream great at a decent quality with minimal fps drops. So I'm planning on streaming whenever I play tf2. You can follow me at http://www.twitch.tv/hoolitown

out of curiosity, what settings are you using? I have a 3ghz q6600 & a gts450 and my game always feels noticably laggy when I try to stream (even w/obs)
edit: nevermind my lag problem disappeared after I changed capture from monitor to window

You seem to be dropping a lot of frames to me, and the stream is laggy overall (might just be 25fps though). What resolution are you streaming at?
my comp is slightly better than yours and i get 20 fps using that program. would like to know what settings you're using
also whenever i try window capture i can't get the program to recognize i have tf2 open since i play fullscreen at 1024x768 (for better fps)when my monitor is 1680x1050

do screen capture at that resolution in the top left corner of your screen, that's what I did when I was streaming thief gold to a friend of mine
EDIT: might not work if xsplit and OBS have different screencap methods

tf2:1280x720, highframes, borderless window
all unused services/processes disabled
all windows visual effects off
obs settings
encoding: quality 10, max bitrate & buffer 1560 kb/s
video resolution: resolution downscale 1.5, FPS 25
x264 CPU Preset: Ultrafast
btw does anyone know how to force obs to use shift as my push to talk key? it wants me to use a shift+ shortcut and it wont let me just use shift. maybe i can edit a config file?
