The new winger is really good. I think it may be pretty overpowered if it's let through, but it's still really fun to use. In case someone didn't catch wind, now the second jump on the winger is also effected, so that gives the scout 50% more jump height at a cost of his pistol. I made a pretty simple script as well to let scouts take out the winger by holding mouse2.
alias "+winger" "slot2"
alias "-winger" "lastinv"
bind mouse2 "+winger"
I put this in my scout.cfg, you'd have to rebind mouse2 to all the other classes too which is easy so I just put this in my other class configs
bind mouse2 +attack2
Here's a video showcasing just some of the new winger jumps I found

Woah, some of these are really good. At the end of the day though, the pistols extra damage is really nice, so it's definitely a sidegrade to pistol now.

I feel like good scouts could easily work around not having a pistol in exchange for the crazy mobility the new winger allows. I think it's an upgrade in general, because all of these new movements allows the scout to get anywhere so much faster and that's really what scout is about.

Just getting over my flu, sorry this has been delayed. I will be conferring with Invite captains in the same way as weapon bans. I'm going to try and have this done asap but I'm still kinda sick so I pass out for hours at a time.

I don't mean to be rude but are 'invite captains' the only ones that can have a say on the weapon? As it effects all of the divisions. It really is like ETF2L when the prem players were keeping away the unlocks and all 6 division weren't allowed to use them.
So basically does it matter what im and open players think or is it all about the invite illuminati?

I believe the answer that you're going to get is about how games should be balanced for the highest levels of play. I'm not completely convinced by it myself, but it is a reasonable argument.

It's been that way since forever, AFAIK. It's because the theory is that Invite captains (and by extension, their teams, they're supposed to discuss a decision with their team) will know the fullest extent of an unlock and how OP and/or not OP a weapon can be. IMO it's been fine.
As for ETF2L, I don't know where you got that impression but it's been the opposite way. The Prem players have been advocating unlocks (to match ESEA, basically), and all the lower divisions have been raging really hard against it. They were raging REALLY hard about the Pyro unlocks (Degreaser, Flare Gun, Ax). The Prem players were all for it.

I think its fine. You may be confident in your knowledge, but little johnny over here doesn't know shit. What would make it so you could have a say, but johnny couldn't and you both play in the same division (open). Its best left to people who have the most knowledge.

The invite players may be the best but I don't know if they are the most knowledgeable on unlocks. If you watch someone like Platinum's stream you'll see him use the exact same items and occasionally throw the huntsman in there. Some of them only pug/scrim and don't even know every weapon in the game.
Not saying there is anything wrong with letting the best players choose but a lot of them aren't the most knowledgeable IMO.

Thats because most unlocks are garbage and not worth using. That does not mean players are ignorant to what they do. See: loose cannon.

What about the unlocks that are banned? I assume you don't think those are garbage but I haven't seen you use them. Also I remember when the loose cannon was first added a lot (not all) of the invite players didn't even know how it worked.

That's why gunslinger was allowed for 3 seasons until someone in invite decided to finally use it.

Not really. For ages it was Buffalo Bill keeping unlocks out. Kaidus wanted ESEA rules, if that's what you mean. Everyone else has a range of opinions, the unspoken majority of which is indifference to anything that doesn't clearly break the game. Lower div players make noises because they think that having and voicing opinions makes you sound smart (do they teach this in school or something? It's really annoying). The trend towards ESEA rules won't continue if ESEA keep failing.

Also, it has no use in 6v6, but this loadout is REALLY fucking fun as scout.
Force a Nature - Winger - Atomizer. You can jump seriously anywhere.

yeah maybe he should use stuff like dh and righteous bison more, or blackbox and buff banner. clearly he isn't knowledgeable enough with the standard weapons that are the most viable in 6s format

several of those jumps could be done without the recent winger buff, but it is definitely a helping case.
hope to see more people using it.

Where are you getting your information? How do you know that invite players don't play with unlocks? It's not like anyone streams 24/7 and streams every single time they load up tf2 and you personally can watch 100% of these streams.
Except maybe Slin.
