So I'm looking to start an online portfolio type of page and I need some help regarding any type of CMS editing. Normally I would ask Lange for help with this stuff but I bombard that man with computer questions as it is and I don't want to bother him with this one too. So if anyone out in the TF2 universe wants to help big daddy shade out with learning some of the basics of, really any, CMS's post here so I can add you on steam and we can figure this out. Just looking for someone to point me in the right the direction on what I am doing a little bit nothing to extensive. This is my step before going on youtube and googly myself and hunting down as many tutorials as I can. Thanks to anyone that can help.
(PS If you know a little bit and you learned it from a tutorial you think would help feel free to link it as well, thank you)
ALRIGHT IM OUT PEACEEEEEEE

I worked with some CMS before, very familiar with wordpress, SMF, phpbb. Also familiar with joomla, the old mambo and some others.
All I learned was by experimenting with the stuff, just get a free host or a crappy shared host thats like 2$/month and install the one you want to learn and mess with it yourself. Honestly I never looked up any tutorials that I can remember, but I had lots of questions and doubts, for that I used the support forums a lot and google.
Mainly SMF which was my biggest project and I had no idea on any of that stuff, eventually my forum grew to 5-6k users and I had to get familiar with it and it was through the forums that I got my answers.
From experience I can tell you that wordpress is really straightforward, the backend and the admin panel is very user friendly and you will do almost anything without having any trouble, you can just do a blank install and see for yourself, all you need is patience and experimenting with the different options, after that is a matter of arranging plugins, themes, etc, maybe costumizing them.
About joomla I can't really help you because my experience is from 4-5 years ago and its also a bit limited but I do remember that its also easy to use, altough nowhere near wordpress. After a few days, 1-2 weeks you will probably get the basic gist of any CMS.
