Turn of the hud, chat and voice chat. Try to forget the fact that you're playing and don't focus on it. As soon as you start focusing on it you start over thinking things, which makes you way worse. It's like being in the zone without realizing you're in the zone and spacing the fuck out. Do what ever you do to get relaxed.

Firstly, realize it's only to practice. You're not there to say "Hey I can shoot stuff!". Don't worry about what others think. It's practice; MGE is not a skill showcase.

If it helps, change your alias to something else so you'll have a sense of being unknown. Also typing !hud in the chat will remove the scoreboard on the upper left hand corner. That way, you don't focus on the score and who you're facing. Another thing is voice_enable 0 in the console, it turns off the in-game voice chat in case there's an idiot that will scream at you. And in the console type hud_say_text_time 0 or something like that. That will prevent you from seeing what people type unless if you press enter/whatever your chat button is in order to see.

Oh and I forgot to add, listening to music might help. Personally for me, listening to music takes it from a serious mood to a more casual feeling.

TechDudeIf you get nervous and jittery in MGE you will get nervous and jittery other places as well. What you need to do is play through it and focus on relaxing if you can. The only real fix for this is experience, over time it will get better and your focus will improve.

If you ever plan on going to a competitive LAN you will feel the same there, so this type of practice can help you stay relaxed. This is one of then biggest reasons why people talk about having "LAN experience" as well, because you can get used to it once you know what to expect.

TLDR; practice through it, do your best, stay positive!

P.S. the point of MGE is to lose; once you find a person who can beat you you should play them as much as possible, struggle to work out why they can beat you and think of ways you can improve so you can beat them.

P.S.S. Don't be a baby, play on your main account under your actual name and don't give a shit who beats you.

king of spire, ladies and gents. everything techdude has said is gold, only thing I can add is BREATHE and focus and the jitters WILL go away
