cant get past tf2 main menu?

I can open tf2 and it takes me to the main menu but once im there it freezes for 10 seconds then crashes... help anyone? I'm playing on a mac which i think has something to do with it but if anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated

I dont have a custom hud, but i do have an fps config, if that has anything to do with it

Is there a DX level flag in your launch options? If so, remove it.
