Apologies if this has been discussed to death, a quick search didn't find anything.
What programs do you guys use for editing .ttf fonts? The couple I've tried really didn't work well at all.
Thanks

Unfortunately Font Forge. It crashes every 30 seconds so it's a pain to use, but it's the only one worth using regardless.
I think I've used TTFedit and fontforge, both did what they needed to which was a simple character edit.

One that I tried, could not manage to save anything before it crashed.
Literally all I'm planning on doing is delete all the center dots out of my crosshair font, so I don't need a ton of functionality.
I switched over from FontForge to FontLab's TypeTool to make my newest version of fonts. To actually make the glyphs, I used Adobe Illustrator.
I run FontForge in a VM. It doesn't crash anywhere near as much.

It's a nice workaround to deal with the crashing issues of FontForge, but it's such a hassle to get set up that it would kill my mood to work on the crosshairs after waiting for the OS to boot up and then having to transfer back and forth between the VM and the host PC
I used FontForge, specifically the older build from 2011, which is more stable in comparison to the 2012 build.
If you know how to use the pen tool and how vectors work illustrator is the way to go

I think Illustrator is more suited for creating font characters, rather than editing fonts themselves.
I edit the letters on Illustrator, then I replace it on Fontlab Fontographer. You can edit too on the second but Illustrator have better possibilities.
