hey guys im getting an error saying exactly this when i try to open up steam:
Steam.exe (main exception): CMultifieldBlob(pSerialized): Bad field - extends past end of blob
before i go and try to solve this problem myself with little to absolutely no knowledge, i was wondering if any more informed or just more knowledgeable people could help me with this problem

steam help is telling me to delete everything in that directory except the following: steam.exe steamapps directory
Does this decision have any negative repercussions that i am not seeing or should i do what it tells me to do

It's basically re-installing Steam but without having to download all your games again, since they are in the steamapps folder.

yeah but will all my launch settings be saved, in other words, will i be able to play tf2 the same i was playing it yesterday when i wasnt having this problem if i delete everything in the directory except steam.exe and steamapps directory

typically you only need to delete .blob files (search for them). should be one at least, maybe more.
