pc crashing when playing games.

hello
recently (last night) my computer has been crashing whenever i try to play a game. i had been playing Rust a lot that day and the day before, but nothing had happened. then, randomly my fps goes to 10 and it looped the audio and shuts down. i thought it was just Rust because it is in alpha, but i tried csgo, same thing happened - 10 fps and pc crashes, then i tried tf2. it started out fine when i was in an empty mge server, but then when i switched to a populated pub, it shut down again. it's becoming a real hassle for my computer to restart so often, so i havent tried any other games other than csgo, tf2 and rust, but i probably will soon.

to try and fix the problem i tried to:
update nvidia drivers
rollback nvidia drivers
update windows
check temperatures
to no avail

my temperatures have been normal when i'm not playing a game, but when i start a game up, i have no time to check it.

here are my specs:
windows 8
Intel i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40GHz
Ram : 16GB
64 bit
nvidia geforce 640
asus mobo
350W?? i think.

also: i might be paranoid, but i have noticed my computer running a little slower since the crashes have been happening

does the screen go black and nothing happends(except audio loop)?
I have a similar problem, it might be the power supply

vegurdoes the screen go black and nothing happends(except audio loop)?

yeah, i have to manually restart it.
also: i just tried hearthstone, and it works perfect. if it is power supply, then why didn't it do anything in the two years i've had the computer? that is what i dont understand.

I dont really know, i have gotten mine changed for a new one after i toasted it, and it worked for a good time until crashes. does it crash right when you start games or 10-15mins into the game and what psu do you have?

it crashes almost instantly, like maybe 45 seconds max into the game. im fairly certain it is 350w

i dont really know any solution, but if you have any friends or some extra pc parts laying around you could try swapping out some parts and check if its works, or send in the computer to who you bought it from saying somthings wrong :(

a little update:
when i check coretemp as my frapes drop and my pc crashes, this is the read it gives:

http://gyazo.com/3fa474db6d259a123224c8f592865f06.png

sometimes fluctuating a little bit, but not more than 5-10C.

im wondering, since the power isnt going above 50, is it still most likely a power supply problem? or could it possible be my graphics card? i want to get a definite read of the problem so i can order the parts as soon as possible.

also: randomly my computer gets really loud and the temperatures get in their higher range (high 60's, low 70's)

plshelpme

I had this same problem, i believed it to be a problem with my graphics card. I was already planning on getting a new one so it wasnt really much of an inconvenience to me. I got my new one and no problems since.

Note: i had been playing aoe 3 leading up to that.

I'm not an expert, but it could definitely be your graphics card. I wouldn't invest into either a graphics card or Power Supply just yet though, since you aren't sure of the problem.

PS: Have you tried cleaning your computer? Can't do anything wrong

Check your other drivers, check your RAM, check there's no accidental overclocked settings in BIOS (3 months I was having crashes until I figured that one out).

try testing cpu, graphics and ram individually. if they all check out then test them all (or just cpu+video) at the same time and if your computer crashes its prob the power supply

probably my power supply (?) since furmark alone crashed my computer just like my games, though still not 100% sure.

are you sure it isn't your video card? furmark doesn't stress cpu at all so it should only be drawing as much power as the video card needs. try reseating your video card and making sure power connectors aren't loose inside your computer

nevermind, probably graphics card. the wattage/temperatures dont change at all when i run coretemp next to furmark, and the fps/load goes to shit after about 20 seconds of running it. (unless im completely misunderstanding this)

Make sure all your drivers are updated, I had this issue and I had to update an ssd driver (???).
