I bought this game based on the countless Steam and Metacritic reviews that essentially call it the love child of CS and Red Orchestra. I played a few hours today and I have to say it lives up these claims and more. At any time, lots of teamwork, pushing, and positioning is necessary to win beyond just a straight-up gungame. The loadout customization system is pretty cool too and doesn't lead to any imbalance issues as far as I can tell. All in all, would recommend.
If anyone's looking to play competitively, add me up. I'm planning on running pugs, SnD + Firefight 5v5s.
when i was in middle school i had this weird friend who was part of a platoon or something and they would pretend they were in the army and do drills

That game was sick about 5 years ago as a sourcemod, before the dev team entirely abandoned it and the community died off. I guess they were working on this release instead, money talks
Recommendation to buy this game:
"... This game will punish you to an extent where waiting and peaking around a corner can be more satisfying then doing the same old stabby stabby in TF2. The lack of UI....The fact that reloading isn't automatic.....The crazy recoil....The Slow Pace..."
hmmmm
sounds fun?

I recall the mod having TKing problems like crazy, since every battle was a bunch of brown-grey shadows engaging other greyish shadows between brownish mud huts in Unspecifiedistan, but it looks like they improved model recognisability and added more environments since then.
That was my only gripe, so I might check this out again.

Anyone still playing this? It's in the Humble Bundle and buying it for a dollar gives you one copy and three more to share.
I have two one 0 copies of Insurgency if anyone wants them. PM me or add me on Steam for the keys.
