Microphone feedback. I'm getting terrible microphone feedback. Everyone I talk to complains that there is a lot of noise or background noise. I use realtek HD audio codec. I've been searching for hours on how to fix this. It's not a mic problem since I have tried different ones, and mics that are confirmed to work well but the problem is still there only on my computer. I have an asus motherboard with onboard audio called asus p8z77. Any help appreciated, maybe some of you guys had this problem before

Is your cell phone close to your mic? Mine was and for a long time people always complained about feedback into my mic

Get a sound card dude. Onboard audio is total garbage and probably introducing all sorts of noise.

Are you plugging your mic into the port on the front panel of your computer? If so, try plugging it into the back directly on the motherboard. Cases often have awful awful quality cables with no shielding for the front panel connections. This applies for headphones as well.

Other people I hear sound fine but have no sound cards. I guess it's worth trying to see..

Yes, it's connected to the back. I believe it could be some software setting because people are telling me that at some stage my audio sounded fine, but the noise is absolutely terrible now

Try using the back port on your computer, typically much better (especially if you have other stuff like usb devices plugged into the front one). If that doesn't work, you can always get a really cheap USB sound card that will be more than enough to run your microphone through.

I'm willing to bet at LEAST half of users that will read this also use onboard sound, and don't have issues. I don't think getting a separate soundcard is the best option. It's 2014 and onboard sound isn't shit anymore.

I mean yes maybe his audio chip is shit or giving him problems, but I'm just saying onboard audio isn't always shitty 100% of the time like it was 10 years ago.

Thanks for the help guys. I've tried testing some settings in teamspeak and I noticed that if I begin a test for my microphone, it starts off with almost no noise. Once I begin to speak the noise gets louder. Once I speak very loudly, the noise gets extremely loud, but actually won't go back down again. Once it reaches some point, the sound will remain that loud.

Closing realtek HD audio does not fix it so I assume it's some settings in windows or as you guys are saying, a problem with my onboard audio... not sure
