TaroPrem has been the same players in different configurations for a while now because no one ever quits this game.
TaroTop players have been leaving the scene for ages (some are mentioned in the article - Haza, Rebeli, Hymzi, Hocz, Jh, Shintaz, Cube, Agron, Darn, Exfane to name a few) but 6s doesn't die, it evolves.
I'm not sure I understand where you're going with this. Even though people were leaving back then it still wasn't like it is now.

kaidusIt's not hard to get into the "prem circle jerk". We dblmix 4 or 5 nights a week and are constantly looking for more people to get involved (i'm not joking, after 2-3 maps we literally sit for 20 minutes ready to accept ANYONE that wants to play tf2 so we can get another game started), the only requirement for which is be vaguely decent/not awful and not a cunt.

There is people who have to get up in the morning or have other people in their houses and can't afford to talk in mumble at 1 am. (also during weekends)

bfaalizeeThe problem in prem has a name: circlejerk (and if you don't fit in there, even if you are better than some players, you won't be allowed to reach prem unless your team mates step it up, which rarely happens) and that's why we have really good players who are stuck with their bad teams in d2, although they could actually compete at a prem level. And none of the prem teams were willing to give these players a chance (unless your name is HYS, which I think it's the right thing to do, so congrats to him for bringing up so many players)
Actually, I think some of these guys could be actually pretty good, they just need a chance to play in that level and (maybe) some guidance, and they will fit in a week or two, simple as that.
feel like this might be a personal thing?

the "circlejerk" honestly is just the regular shitty excuse for players that werent good enough to get a grip in div1 and prem and are now derping around in div2 crying about how unfair everything is
just look at the last seasons and you will actually see that most people climbed divs and deserved their prem spots and in the end real talent/dedication always made its way into prem

Well there games normally start immediately after PCWs (save for a 20 minute break or something).

how can you even say something like this when there isn't even 8 teams to fill prem. Or, are you trying to say that the "circlejerk" is preventing the addition of an extra team?
Ofc is not its fault, but you guys are crying of the skill level that's currently in d1 and prem, I'm trying to say that if you would have done something like that, each season we would have the experienced players and some new ones, and when the time passes, that experienced ones would quit the game, and the new ones would have gotten enough experience to be the new top gamers, and so on.
EDIT: But some of them cba to do it, and then cry, THAT'S THE MOST HYPOCRITE THING (!!!)

Ever since I can remember people have always looked for an excuse to call TF2 dead, it's become a regular occurrence and yet we still haven't gone anywhere. Once we eventually look back on this season, it will just that - a failed excuse for the death of TF2.
Looking forward to Season 19 and beyond.

I've only ever got involved in one of these once and it was fun as hell and I learnt a whole lot by getting dominated by Ipz the entire game. If you seriously want something to do, get in on this.

AdmirableThis is troubling for me, even more so that other people are sharing this sentiment, because the last two seasons have featured the most extensive, in-depth coverage of any seasons I can remember between Gentleman Jon's ridiculously impressive word count exploring the depths of TF2 stats and TFTV covering every Premiership game going... with the majority of those casts featuring post game interviews. We have also seen more top European players streaming than ever. An incredible ZOWIE invitational just before Season 17. Extensive Previews. Gossip updates. Awards shows. DavidTheWin writing a series of weekly reports. WARHURYEAH even has a blog!
The scene definitely needs more characters, drama and rivalries; those things tend to sprout from serious competition, but do the players care enough to make things interesting?
All the content in the world doesn't matter when the teams don't help... Not discrediting all your work of course. I love jon's articles and hes been one of top content producers lately, as well as the weekly recaps etc... But it just doesn't cut it when there's still epsilon wrecking everyone. I dont feel the urge to watch any game as I did when I first started watching competitive tf2 (where Infused won the final of s12? against epsilon), or when there was the big broder vs cc vs epsilon rivalry.
Last season had the potential to be really interesting until they decided to put mike back on MiG's roster, and not happy with it went further to get byte onto the team, I don't really blame them for being keen. But all these agglomerations of the best players might work against us in the long run. Now they just brought the best european scout imo (kiler), onto epsilon, to assert their dominance even more.
Also kaidus I agree with you definitely, it's not inherently bad to have a weaker season, it will allow new talent to emerge. But this div1 for example looks to me the worst I have seen in the last 7 seasons at least. When was the last time you saw 6 div2 teams and 1 div3 team get promoted to div1?? Yeah, it never happened. Ffs even konr's team got put in div1 without any screens whatsoever and not even a full roster, that says it all.
I do agree that the teams currently in div1 seem much more stable and keen, and it might actually benefit us in the long run, but in terms of "hype" itself it doesn't contribute anything at the moment.

lazy pandas have random highlander players and saints have dennia, what's your point? you can probably compete versus the lower teams of prem and wouldn't fuck up my season in div2

Hallow has a point honestly. I dunno about prem, but I have absolutely no fucking idea what that team is doing in div2.

TF2 was never alive. Let's be honest, no developer support, little money/sponsorships and the official broadcasting orgs get fewer viewers on twitch.tv than girl_gamers in push-up bras playing dota or some shit.
This game is fun to play, but in the greater scheme of things it's competitive potential will never truly be reached because of the above and the fact that other games do have these things that TF2 lacks. Once you reach prem the incentive to keep playing is minimal. There are very few benefits. You play purely for the sake of competition and getting good games. Which, understandably isn't enough for a lot of people.

aykarinWho are the scouts in that team? Based on the HL games I have watched, Sorex is an incredible scout then there is Cookye & you (smzi)
I don't think it really matters who plays what, you can put war on med as long as there is a 8th team this season
