I'm a fan of the EU ruleset in general, and it's 100x better for LANs as well (for the sake of time, etc).

If I were to go straight to GXL from work on Thursday, would I be allowed into the facility to talk with friends that evening? Do I HAVE to have a special pass for that?

You would have to buy the pass (Premature LANer) to come in early, even if it's just to talk to friends. However, people who help us with setting up stuff during Thursday night will get free a premature LANer pass.

If not there was talk of a laser tag tournament for Thursday night. We could all go do that...

also the go-karts at arnold's are pretty decent

I have no idea what the plan is for updating the rules (especially as 5 months is a lot of time for a map pool to change) but I'd like to also +1 for Sunshine being in there. It really depends on the tourney rules (EDIT oops), though, I gotta say.

With so many people flying out for this how are they all going to be able to find PCs to play on?

I have a laptop that works, I just need a 120+ hz monitor.

From talking a bit with the Europeans about this LAN some of them are attempting to get sponsorships for PCs (and possibly flights). I think we'll have to see what Fragile says about rentals; it'd be nice to have that option.

yeah 120hz is a must. i have a lan laptop with a 120hz display, dflame has already claimed it. ill be lugging my giant fucking tower to GXL since its fairly close to my apartment.

I could bring my laptop and a 60Hz 20" 1680x1050 monitor if anybody would want to use it (60Hz ewwww).

Unfortunately the laptop cannot output 120Hz so even if another monitor was located it couldn't do it. It gets 200+ fps though.

my current plan is to bring my tower carryon because its small and just putting it on my lap but idk what to do with my monitor

im thinking maybe like tape a flat piece of plastic over the screen side of it and just pack it in a large suitcase with my clothes and stuff so its cushioned and nothing pokes the screen

I am bringing my tower in a huge hard shell suitcase, with all the inside components in another suitcase packaged up cozy. Buying a monitor at Wal-Mart or whatever the fuck when I get there.

I could bring my laptop (i5 3230M @ 2.6 GHz, Intel HD 4000, 6 GB RAM) and my 1440x900 monitor. Might have a mouse and keyboard as well.
