Hey, I have a team that is looking to play in Open next season and right now I'm caught between playing in ESEA-O or Cevo-O. I know Cevo is starting to pick up but I'm not entirely sure of the competition in both leagues. I was looking to play in whichever league was more competitive and had more teams if that's even valid. Just looking for some feedback or opinions on which division to play in. Thanks!
honestly unless your team doesn't have time
no reason not to play in both
and its kinda early to know what league will how more teams/ be more competitive but teams usually take esea more seriously

ESEA
ESEA
Until ESEA unlocks the rosters and moves up teams, noway to tell how competitive/alive its shaping up to be. If you want to play it safe, sign up for CEVO and be guaranteed a season. ESEA isn't a lock to have a tf2 season at this point, nor has a single rep even replied to their S17 signup thread.
CEVO if you want a free working service
ESEA if you wanna pay to botnet your computer
ESEA if you wanna pay to botnet your computer
that joke stopped being funny right after the 80th time it was made.
i played in both leagues last season, the teams in ESEA-O were a lot stronger than the cevo teams that season. CEVO scheduling was a lot more problematic than ESEA.
imo if you're confident in your abilities to make playoffs, ESEA will provide a better experience, but if you consider yourself to be around the low-mid area in terms of open, i'd say cevo would be better.
but really you should do both.

if you want to be the best you need to play with the best
What if you dont have the money or dont want to pay for both?
I didn't really like playing in both leagues last season. Always had to chose practicing one map over another and then trying to find another team to scrim on that map, very headache inducing, never got enough practice. By mid season our team only took esea matches seriously and cevo matches felt more like a chore. Your results may vary of course.
ESEA open bombed hard this season, considering it looks like nothing started heating up until the second round of playoffs. This worrying trend alone begs the question of if ESEA TF2 will go the way of 1.6 or if it will come to an abrupt halt after this season's LAN.
word on the street is that the admins are trying to sync the rotations for this upcoming season but it's hard when ESEA always extends registration
cs is 15 years old
cs:s stopped having esea lans before cs 1.6
only reason esea 1.6 lans stopped was because the majority of 1.6 invite players switched to csgo

cevo 4 lyfe
esea can go fuck itself
still got that client, can't get rid of it

Moveups will be done as soon as all games / divisions are done playing playoffs, which should be in a few days if everything goes alright ;)

Tough call. CEVO has a bright future so long as it keeps getting the players, and every team counts. The future with ESEA is pretty much unknown, but the competition is going to better. However, if you are below high open, CEVO open isn't going to be that much different.
for anything below invite (unless your goal is esea invite) cevo is fine. until they have a sustainable plan for piggybacking lans like they're going to @ gxl i can't see invite making the switch.
cevo stepping it up is definitely a good thing for us, because either esea steps it up as well and we get to choose the best possible service. OR esea gives up but only because cevo has made the improvements to entice us to switch over which is obviously great for us.
edit: want to be clear that by "the switch" i mean invite teams considering cevo as the main league, not just playing in cevo-p.

have you played on a gameservers.com server before? did you think "wow I love having 30 more ping than usual"? then cevo is your best bet, enjoy

Definitely had way better connection on CEVO servers than I did on esea servers. There's a huge amount of things to tear cevo apart over, don't lie to make up new ones.

what??? what defiance said was accurate from the two twitch matches my team played. higher ping (50 ping higher for some players) and stuttering were both issues on the servers we reserved from cevo.
but there's the option to play on your own server which helps

Thanks for actually coming on here and replying. That said, invite completes its season next Sunday. I think unlocking the rosters that following Monday would be an excellent step to helping the ESEA TF2 cause. Moveups take longer, thats fine, but at lease allowing roster changes helps show new players teams are forming. Its easy to come on here and type some words though, Ive seen it many times from Admins, the proof will be if you guys actually do it come the day after LAN. Its only going to help your league if you do.
