MGE
Seeing improvement as a player. I don't know why everyone is saying the community is so great, sure we funded for things like 152 and tip of the hats, but the people in this community are usually not forgiving.
FogAlthough I don't actually play the game anymore, it was the friends that I made while playing TF2 that kept me around the community when I did play.
You quit tf2?!?! when did you do that? This is the first im hearing about this!

Do you remember the times I unbanned you? Twice?
I think that's pretty forgiving.

I still have fun with it after I've played it 3 times as many hours as I've played any other FPS game so I see no reason to stop really.
There's no game as diverse as tf2, . There's bball, ultiduo, 6v6, HL, pub, mge, dm, surf, dodgeball, prophunt, mvm, Saxton Hale, millions of hats and items, there's something for everyone out there... How can you possibly get bored of it...
That being said the main thing that keeps me on it is the people I have met and talk to on a daily basis, team mates, lans, community meetings, really close relationships that I have formed with some people, it has become so much more than a game to me.
tl;dr: I'm in too deep to quit

It's just about the only not dead fast-paced FPS, with an amazing community too.
I hope the arena shooter genre really makes a comeback with support from a AAA developer with experience developing competitive games. TF2 at its core, just isn't built for competitive play, and it makes me sad, because many of the mechanics are great, but the gap between public and competitive is so large.
I'll be focusing on CSGO much more than TF2 from now on, just because of how well it is geared toward competition; but I'll probably never leave TF2 completely.

Its fun
Its fast
Its different.
It has great people, community and personalities
And it is where our hearts belong

There's so many thing things that make TF2 so good that I'll just say that it's the best game I've played so far.
No matter what there is always something new to do, I feel like i can always get better and the fucking juicy drama is so good.
I actually have no clue why, i get pulled in to play season after season when ive been saying im going to quit for about 3 seasons now

One of these days someone will make an arena shooter that isn't just a Quake mod.

Mostly when on Pubs, I spam binds, on custom game mode servers, you sometimes meet nice people, and some not so nice people that think they're cooler than you because they have unusuals. :D
Very diverse with lots of options and lots of great players with lots of great smaller communities.
Streamlined and community-made competitive leagues are also really neat!
Lots of fun with DM and MGE, jumping, pubbing, and anything I can think of, I've always found a way to enjoy, it's a (much) more casual xonotic/quake, and I can get and stay into it.

The friends (and enemies/rivals) I've made when I'm playing keeps me playing
also gunboats spire mge, seriously, try it sometime. Literally played only that for 3 hours straight with a friend and suddenly it was 1am.
