happened to me with maxframes on dx8. Rolling back your drivers or switching to dx9 would help.

My game used to do something similar this on certain maps because of lightmaps being corrupt or something. Iirc verifying game cache fixed it, but that could be a different problem than what you're having

Same thing happened to me when I started using dx8. I just used older nvidia drivers, and it works like a charm.

you shouldn't have to roll back your drivers anymore, just update them to the latest because they fixed that issue many versions ago

I've updated as of yesterday. I'll try dx9.

Problem was fixed with dxlevel 90.

NVIDIA driver 306.97 or earlier can run TF2 on dx8 without flickering.

The newest driver and a few earlier ones can run dx8 fine too
