It's more about 1 spec of dirt on your cloth pad and the sensor starts skipping on it and cloth pads are tougher to keep clean so you're forced to use a hard pad.
Got the ec1 evo today, I really like the shape and feel of the mouse. However when I try to do a large flick, like when rocket jumping, the mouse skips hard.
Using goliathus control. Mouse is @ 500hz and 1150 dpi.
I'm going to try cleaning my mousepad to see if that helps any.

Do you have another mouse pad to try? the control has a lot of divots in it that the speed version doesn't. Also some sensors get tricky when you use a pad that had green paint on it.

DeathAdder and then the Zowie EC2. Same shape, but smaller.

Come on now. You can even see the leftover pixels where the guy moved the IME.

I just tried my EC1 at similar settings on a Goliathus Control and I can make it skip with a 14"/360, it doesn't skip on my Goliathus Speed though.
You may be able to get around the skipping if you use a different dpi step, I believe that the 1150 dpi step yields the lowest tracking speeds that the mouse is capable of.

Might just go pick up a new mousepad then. Its tracking fine on my roommates destructor.
just don't get a destructor if you care about your mouse. I suggest a large solid black cloth pad like the purtrack stealth or goliathus speed etc.
This is disapointing, just got the QCK+. Same problem that I had with my goliathus.
maybe change to 1k hz and see if it continues. Mine works great on all my mouse mats so maybe you just got a bad one.
Tried it on all 3 polling rates, and all 3 dpi settings. I'm contacting zowie support to see what they can do for me. If they can't help then I guess i'm stuck with my broken deathadder.
Is it possible that you're slightly lifting the mouse when you swipe?
I once had a DA with really low lift distance due to a tape fix and stacked mouse feet that would "skip" whenever I would RJ, I initially thought that it was due to me hitting the the max tracking speed but I found that I was slightly lifting my mouse at the end of my swipes.
I've seen people have similar problems with mice with low lift off distance after being used to high lift distance. I could see it being a problem in your case since the DA has really high lift off distance in comparison to the EC1.

i have an AM and it shares the same sensor as the evo. The sensor is very picky about surfaces and also hiccups when there's any little dust. The lod is also too low; what i perceived as mouse skipping was actually me unconsciously lifting the mouse off the surface ever so slightly. it's very annoying.

The default polling rate for that mouse is 1000 Hz. I had a Goliathus Control with no issue with my EC2 eVo (same sensor). My only suggestion is to carefully clean the mousepad or try a different one to see if the problem persists. If it does then it could be you got a bad one and should RMA it.

ApHDoes the Zowie ec2 evo have any problems?
Not that I'm aware of. I used the ec1 (same as ec2 just slightly bigger) and it was absolutely fantastic. Its uses the 3090 sensor rather than the 3310 that the FK1 uses but the tracking is still very good.
