I don't see why this is a thing? Why do people create alts just for MGE?
So people don't add up in mge and tryhard/ play like an idiot just to say "omg i got 10 points on <invite player name here> i'm good now".
People don't want to be given shit when they play. I'll still make fun of tommunist for it though.
brizzdid you really need to make a thread about it
I was curious. I didn't know asking a TF2 question on a site about TF2 was frowned upon. My B. /sarcasm

if you're good or a known player people will either
refuse to play against you
follow you around and counter jump you or whatever because they're determined to beat you

I have an alt so people don't think I'm worse than I already am at MGE
well known people use alts so people dont follow them around and go sweaty tryhard on them, and some people use alts to keep their ego out of the way
please stop making alts when you're mid open thanks
I thought the purpose of mge was to practice aim and get better not to win, so why make an alt regardless of tryharding or not? Approach it as a practice mod and not a competition, and you'll have a lot more fun, imo
if you're known and you're on your main, its harder to play better people consistently in public mge
but public mge is dead so womp womp
but public mge is dead so womp womp
i can see why people create alts because i could sit in an arena for over an hour without anyone adding to play me
it happened when i was just chilling with mumble friends and only realized it was over an hour because my friend was leaving to go to sleep
lol

lol
i get beat by open players a lot but i never get shit talked so i dont use an alt
"i got beat by someone i've never heard of" -> use an alt -> beat someone on your alt -> "i got beat by someone i've never heard of" -> they use an alt
and the cycle continues
and the cycle continues
mge against friends who arent garbage
everybody wins
you could also play against teammates.
everybody wins
you could also play against teammates.
alec thats because no one expects anything of you
slammed
slammed
There's no one else to blame, no way out of this one. I lost, and I was the only person on my side.
Phrakture's eyes widened in realization. He would have to find a solution. No one could know he lost to someone like showstopper again. Quickly he wracked his brain, thinking of a solution. Suddenly, eureka! He could create an alias, an alter-ego. He could adopt the lifestyle of a superhero, and all he needed was the email he used in the 3rd grade for Neopets and Runescape. The plan was flawless. The account was set up in minutes.
That very night, he joined reddit mge, playing for hours straight. If he lost, it didn't matter. No one would know it was really Phrakture, the man with an untarnished reputation. Slowly, he began to master techniques and positioning. His counterjumps were timed with precision, shotgun pinning opponents in the air. His skills were developing faster than his ELO points could increase. Then, one day, he came to a sudden realization. He could play another class. After dozens of meticulous mge matches, tested across multiple alternate accounts, he found where his true legacy would be made.
The fourth class, in the fourth arena. It was meant to be. No one could break through his bombardment of sticky bombs raining out from deep in the badlands house. He was a faceless, impenetrable barrier. No one would know it was Phrakture, but he had ascended past identity. He had become the symbol of My Gaming Edge Mod.
The army of alts grew, and his ELO was unmatched. He began to login on multiple computers, playing against himself to increase his rank to unparalleled levels. The outlook was grim for aspiring MGE-lords.
But then, seemingly at random, a white knight in shining armor struck Phrakture down. Quetzyl, a mysterious master detective, found him out. The curtain was pulled away, and the man behind the magic was revealed. The secret was out, and everyone knew. Phrakture's disciples were also revealed, and temporarily, MGE was a safe haven. As Phrakture and his followers created more accounts, Quetzyl struck them down, removing the mask and unveiling the unsuspecting ESEA-Open players.
But alas, all was lost when Quetzyl was no longer able to wield his powers of FTP. The ip addresses were once again inaccessible, and a new surge of alts were thrown into the mix.
Following the tragic loss of Quetzyl, MGE Mod slowly lost its following in the Team Fortress community. MGE iT and Reddit were no longer populated at all hours of the day. They were left barren after new players were driven away by Phrakture's army.
Today, MGE is on life support, full of alts but no longer visited by the truly skilled, those who fought without the crutch of anonymity. Although Phrakture may not visit servers any more, his legend lives on in the alts that continue to occupy the remaining servers.
Never forget.
