I was too tired to stay and watch the finals, and I keep hearing about how awesome the outro video was. Is there some way I could see that? The twitch VOD is muted during that part.

Okay, so I did odd jobs/ camerawork for the awesome production staff all weekend, and I think it's a good thing for you guys to know every single person who made this production possible.

TheFragile made this a thing. Seriously, think about that. Think about the effort to lead all of this. It's seriously incredible.

Dashner juggled so many things, I was straight up impressed. Coming from producing things for my town's live television station, I can say his job was 10x more taxing than any job I've seen or done in local tv, and he did it for 15+ hours straight three days in a row.

Drshdwpuppet dealt with so many stupid server issues, he deserves a trophy. He was in charge of running pug, pub, and match servers for the entirety of the event.

Lange did as lange does. Between working production, casting, doing interviews, and taking over camera for me when the cheat feed broke (thank you so much ty ty ty), he was doing things nonstop.

Airon was fantastic. He mixed everything beautifully, and that's a thing no one else knew how to do. Audio would not have been anywhere near as good as it was without him.

Arie did lots of things with computers that were beyond me entirely. All I know is that it was important, and that only he could do it.

Think of the name of a caster for the LAN. Odds are, that person wasn't planning on casting. The main casters for the event got sick and replacements had to be made. Mad props to getawhale, gecks, lange, fragile, tagg, commanderx, extine, and anyone I may have forgotten that casted any games, whether they planned to at the event or not.

Truktruk ran camera for pretty much the whole CEVO tournament (I think all of it). That's a long time.

Kappy (Kaptan_kul) was an odd-job extraordinaire. Between communicating things to teams, fixing curtains, moving shit around, etc, he saved all the production people from a lot of tasks that they would have otherwise had to do. He also read the cheat feed for a bit.

FrenchTheLlama read out the killfeed for me pretty much the entire day of the BYOC. This is a job that may not typically be needed if there is a very experienced cameraman, but I am not that. Reading the killfeed in a way that makes sense to someone 30 seconds in the past of you isn't an easy job, and there are no breaks from start to stop.

I'd like to send out specific thanks to dashner and lange for having faith in my camerawork, and letting me do that the entirety of the BYOC. It was cool to be able to work back there. Even if it wasn't necessarily the job I was expecting, it was a job I really enjoyed.

I'll probably edit this post, because there's no way this was everyone. Thanks for your work, guys! :)

Had a blast kicking it with everyone. For sure the best surprise of the lan, having never really talked to them online, was hanging out with hero and shade.

Also, lan champion at mount your friends winning by a dick length: http://imgur.com/9k0NPEo

Met some nice gamers, tried to talk to them when I was far too drunk. Sorry for anyone I offended.

The best part though was Sunday, as bittersweet as it was, bowling with the people I've played TF2 with for 5-6 years, playing pool. Just hanging out on the last day of the event, knowing at the end we wouldn't see each other for possibly another year, fun but sad.

Until next year my friends.

The dedication and overwhelming passion for this community was by for the most eXciting thing to see at GXL.

The sponsors: They contributed travel expenses necessary to get players and staff to the event, provided prizes for the tournaments, and helped show that the TF2 community is alive.

The spectators: They showed up for the to meet their favorite players and watch their favorite teams compete.

The players: Tens of thousands of miles we traveled to play a game they love dearly and play it they did. The air shots were epic, the drops were gut wrenching, and the blocks were crazy!

The event organizers: These guys (were heading cats all weekend long) worked tirelessly to make sure all the matches happened even when all hope seemed lost.

The production team: eXtv CRUSHED the casting of all the events even when things didn't go as expected they powered through the rough patches and made it happen.

This past TF2 season is the dawn of the a new era for community. The persistence of everyone is the fuel that is growing the scene into something bigger than it ever has been.

Together we make TF2 great!

What can I say?

Excellent, excellent experience let alone lan. Being able to just spectate (i.e. harass) all the gamers in their natural habitats was awesome. Random stream of consciousness thoughts:

Meeting tons of very keen tf2 dudes for the first time:

Meeting some alluring, intelligent tf2 community dudettes:

Being able to sit in between, not watch from far back.. but sit in between some of the best players in the game during huge matches:

(Seriously, stuff like being able to sit in between mansky and shade as they push into last with uber, ravage things and then look at their smiling, beautiful faces and tell em 'das wassup big dogs' is a wonderful experience.)

Staying in one of the production (lange, getawhale) hotel rooms stumbling in at 5AM to no ones chagrin (thanks to everyone who got me f'd up in various ways rick, ninjanick etc.):

Having 35+ people in Ricks room and tons of them throwing down money on the table (felt like some wild Chinese gambling scene in a movie) on a bet just to watch Marmaduke beat (see swindle) me (hope someone has that video):

Watching people who lost money on me, instantly drunkenly win it back betting on a coin flip:

Giving sezco a middle finger/hugging Chad whenever I could:

Coaching budsquad and looking like a lunatic with my arms crossed constantly pacing aggressively after being inspired by c9s coach:

Seriously though, way too many random memories. Getting to know a lot of gamers better (cdubs, the eLevate boiz, 20b) was a real treat. Cheers to everyone, and especially all the men and women who helped to put on such an amazing event. Fuck man after swearing off tf2 it was enough to make me really wanna jam next season. Any teams in need of medical assistance? ;)

I love you all, and I mean it.

xoxo,

Keith Richard Smerbeck
