Do you already have a monitor you can use or do you need to buy that aswell?

Almost no one sells Windows 7 preinstalled anymore so this will be pretty difficult to find one...

Hell microsoft announce no more preinstalls for Windows 7 Basic, Home Premium, or Ultimate. Pro is the only one available now.

^^It's a bit expensive but thats okay. Can anyone confirm it would run TF2 and possibly CS:GO at 120 fps, obviously with fps configs? It has windows 7 home prem but that's okay.

Also I do have a monitor. It's not 120hz because my parents are funding this stuff and my dad thinks 120hz is useless but oh well. It is pretty big though so I guess thats good. Hopefully next year i can get a 120 hz so i figured i would i try to get a desktop now that can easily put 120 fps.

With ease assuming you run the power setting in highperformance, and probably without even using a CFG.

Even if you don't have a 120Hz monitor higher FPS will still translate to smoother, and more accurate mouse movement.

Windows 8 really isn't as bad as people say it is. Install a 3rd party start menu and it's basically Windows 7 SP2 with a new theme and no Basic or Classic theme. It's nowhere near Vista levels of being bad, and probably literally heaven compared to ME (I never used either, but I have heard of the problems with them).

When you can build your own PC, I do think you should do it. It will be cheaper as you're not paying anyone to build it for you.

That said, you do seem to be getting a solid computer. Personally, I think it would be better to put in a i5 4590 instead of that current i7 and putting in a better video card, but since you only play TF2 what you're getting is fine.

The Windows 8 theme IS Aero underneath. It also cannot be turned off at all due to the removal of the Basic and Classic themes. I believe the Nvidia drivers as well as 3rd party tools for AMD can turn off vsync, There is apparently a workaround that disables DWM.exe but the start screen is fucked; 3rd party start menus might work fine.

Honestly, even just buying parts separately and having someone else build it for you will give you what you want at a cheaper price. You can pick your parts, figure out what you need and not have the hassle of building it yourself. Local shops or even a friend will do it for cheap. Good luck

you can customize ur prebuilt pc where u pick ur own parts. so you pick parts, the company builds the pc for you. should your computer encounter some issue u just send ur whole pc to them and they investigate.

thats the good thing with buying prebuilt computer when you are under warranty. they save you the headache of investigating which computer hardware is causing the issue and replace the faulty hardware with a working one

when u build ur own computer and something is messed up u have to end up worrying wether this x hardware is the faulty one because if you rma the wrong hardware u waste ur money shipping to the manufacturer and they may charge u for a service fee since they couldnt find any faults.

Anyway, the computer just arrived, and when I try to boot it says "boot filename not received"

I confirmed the boot order is correct, and this indicates that either the OS (windows 7 home prem) was not preinstalled (really super unlikely although they did give me a windows 7 disk). OR, that the hard disk itself is dead and that's why it cant boot from it.

I already opened the system up and confirmed that this is not a wiring problem from the motherboard to the hard disk. So I think the disk itself is probably dead (probably from rough transit I guess?) so I'm going to send it back, but if anyone has a better idea of something I missed I'm very appreciative.

Edit: it now says "PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable" when I try to boot. This seems to confirm my suspicion that the system cant read from the hard drive.

man thats unlucky. newegg has a 30 day replacement policy so i'd just take advantage of that if i were you.

Thanks for your advice but it worked out. I called customer support, turns out the boot was set to legacy instead of uefi for some reason?? Anyhow I changed it and its working now so yay.
