Hello! I am interested in playing organized tf2 matches. I believe myself to be a pretty good player but i have never played in any ranked matches so I have no way of gauging my skill appropriately. My best classes: Medic, Soldier, Sniper, Demo, Engineer. I would be happy to show my ability or be tested for my skill level. I'll work up from there as there is ALWAYS room for improvement. I look forward to hearing from you!

Try the ugc forums and look for an iron team. I would also try some tf2center lobbies for some entry level pugs. Newbie mixes are great too.

Nice dude, welcome to the community.
If I were you I'd first get some general knowledge of the game.
If you're into 6v6 I'd watch some videos of you clase in the MGE video archive
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLD098F81F2CA74F00
And then I'd check out marxists precepts for general map knowledge.

If you're looking to play Highlander
Moosetracks
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLEA3D29D4339FF185
and
heinsight
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL87805082405A4D19
are both useful playlists.
Next you should download 'Mumble' as that is the primary communication tool for competitive tf2
http://sourceforge.net/projects/mumble/
Then from there you can work on your aim/deathmatch skills by joining a DM OR MGE server
http://teamfortress.tv/servers
Then when you want to get your hands dirty start out with some tf2center @ www.tf2center.com
