i wanna see bolin kick ass with lava bending...
that metalbending fight tho. Gonna be interesting to see what Korra will do now, but I'm gonna guess spirits are gonna come help out anyway in the last episode. Also why is Republic City so important, there's dozens of others cities Kuvira could attack but nooooo everything has to target Republic City.

It's the only part of the Earth Kingdom/Continent that Kuvira has no control over.

it USED to be earth kingdom and aang and the rest made the area its own nation so kuvira wants it back
TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
perhaps republic city is powerful and holds the biggest influence in the world and if republic city lose then its easier for kuvira to take over other cities as they would just raise the white flag
Kuvira's like.. nope, not doing this. Yeah, you guys can go. If I could barely beat Su, pretty sure I don't want to try against the person who CAME UP with metalbending.

I didn't expect a mecha anime before TLOK started but since S1E7 I've been waiting for this.
The Percy Weasley is real. Granted they threw in a relationship aswell, but other than that it's the same. Not sure if he's just #2 (or even further down) on Kuvira's list of priorities or if she really doesn't care at all. Unless she doesn't like lying her "reaction" suggests the former.

What a monster; both the mech and Kuvira, damn boy.
I actually don't really like this mega mech, I was ok with the smaller mechs but already didn't really like the idea of having mechs in avatar. and this huge mech is just kind of a joke. I enjoyed the Avatar:TLA a lot more because of it's mythology and simplicity. I was ok with the change to a so said "new era" of technology but I think they went a little bit too fast from basic 1920s cars to an over 100 meter tall mech that shoots laserbeams..
The giant mech thing literally does not make any sense. They should have just had the spirit weapon be put on a big tank or something. The animation for the thing is also very awkward.

Yea, the show being modern is very counter atla-esque. To begin with, I don't know how I feel about these primitive cars or the mechs, but adding a super high tech mech, & also putting Tenzin, an air nomad, in that super slim flight suit, it's definitely quite different from atla. However, season 3 was incredible imo & most of season 4 has had great episodes (even the filler :3)

I feel like they wanted to make the series finale as epic as possible. I personally feel the giant mech is pretty far-fetched and I dislike it. But I can see the writers wanting one last epic fight.
"I had no idea bataar jr was that good an inventor"
"I had no idea they were building a fucking 20 story mech the whole time!"
^ Those two just kind of killed my mood :( This shows dialogue is usually spot on

Props to everyone for spoilers. No, I didn't give anything away, you can barely understand what I wrote after you've watched the episode.
I mean the Dieselpunk was completely fine, the problem were the small mechs. Combined with the rest of the story you can't explain not having a giant mech.
Think about it:
-Dictator who wants a super weapon
-first super weapon was a giant laser gun (Schwerer Gustav copy btw)
-there are mechs
-mecha tanks > normal tanks
->giant mecha for a giant laser gun
Meta/writer-level:
All the parts are there and season two should've made it pretty clear that it's basically a part-time mecha anime. Unless you can give me a different explanation for the reaper ... uhm I mean UnaVaatu vs giant blue spirit Korra. If that's not a fucking confirmation that it's a mecha anime I don't know what is.
Seriously, how could anyone not see it coming?
The latest point at which you should've realised was when they planned to destroy the rails. At that point they can't not be watching the rails so bar a huge and illogical fuckup there's no way they can get that cannon into/close to the city. That would take the superweapon that they carefully and logically built up as a threat over multiple episodes completely out of the equation. That's not going to happen.
EDIT:
They didn't explain it at all though. There were so many different ways to properly explain it. -Zhu Li being on the train and after that only working on the cannon so she couldn't see the mech being built
-the mech being a secret project so no one told her about it
-the giant mech already being built (building a bigger mech isn't exactly revolutionary) so they just had to strap the laser on it
-travel time being as random as ever in Avatar plus the cannon being far away and the mech build site being close to republic city, giving them even more time to build/rebuild/strap the cannon on the mech
Literally one sentence along the lines of "the must've already built it in secret/somewhere else" would've explained the mech, that's just sloppy.
[spoiler]Like I said it had to happen.

I saw Fuckboy Jr. getting fucked over a mile away - confirmed when he said "I love you, Kuvira" and she didn't return it lmao. And then she pulls the Big-O shit and...you know.
Also, god dammit Varrick, get your shit together.

that was a very well thought out and critical reception of this show, thank u for sharing
ANYWAY preview for the finale: http://dongbufeng.tumblr.com/post/105066931203/
I hope the final fight is as good as the one from the first series.
MOOSE_Shit Show
Original was better
I don't think you have much room to judge with the shit tier entry level anime you watch.
