"Somnium" by Robert Rich is a 7 hour album that is supposed to guide the listener through different phases of sleep or something. Haven't tried it myself yet, but it certainly sounds interesting.
I have tinnitus, so I need music as background noise to sleep.
Usually I'll use a Fuck Button songs- Surf Solar is my favourite. Other than that, it's Sometimes by My Bloody Valentine, or if I'm bored, I'll just jam on some black metal.

Shit like this
i've never purposely listened to something to fall asleep but i've slept listening to F♯A♯∞ by gy!be before by accident
I don't understand how people fall asleep listening to music. I sometimes turn on relaxing music to keep myself awake so I can lie down and relax a bit. Like, is it not distracting?
just gotta use the right music

i think it varies based on how you normally sleep. I live in the country, and its usually dead silent and pitch black when i sleep. if there is any noise at all, i have a lot of trouble sleeping.
some people who live in urban areas find that a background noise actually helps them sleep.
just a theory with no evidence other than my personal experience with sleeping
I usually listen to The Roots, especially their Do You Want More?!!!??! album
it's not music, but this site is pretty awesome as far as ambiance goes: http://mynoise.net/NoiseMachines/

this entire album is like a lullaby for the soul

it's a matter of finding the right music imo. i've always felt like everybody's got some piece of music that will put them at such an extreme state of ease that they can just fall asleep to it, they just gotta find it. like the OP posted Music for Airports which i listen to exclusively to study alongside, but it's so calming that i can see how someone could fall asleep to it. it's a case by case basis and idk if anyone could really explain why a certain song or album or whatever puts them to sleep (in a good way)

I made a short chill hip-hop playlist whenever I browse at night - I don't if it helps sleep at all though:

or when you're sad
I don't listen to music while I go to sleep but I have a portable fan that makes a really nice constant noise to help me. If you don't like your room being super cold you can always get something like that to replicate the sound.

more chill songs on the site, some are just out there. Ask me if your looking for a specific type.

A short playlist I made of songs that're relaxing to me.
I can't fall asleep to music unless I've been running low on sleep before and the music is really boring (I fell asleep to The Sword once... enough said).
I do usually play some ambient to get me drowsier before bed, as with a sedentary lifestyle you tend to get lots of spare energy left at the end of the day (inb4 fap joke). I'm playing the Limbo soundtrack now for instance; it's got one noisy track but you can skip it.
If you want more great ambient, here's a chart on Rate Your Music for the genre, dive in. From that chart I'd probably highlight the albums by Stars of the Lid, Biosphere, The KLF and Tangerine Dream as good sleep music.

i used to sleep to this every night, +1 would recommend
I also have tinnitus, so sleeping with music (or at least a fan) helps me quite a bit. Aphex Twin is probably my favorite.
