Hey I wanted to share this video with you guys because I think it's an important concept to learn as a competitor and as a person looking to improve himself. As a salty gamer it took me YEARS to even become aware of this concept, and I've been practicing it ever since I became aware.
When I first started out in TF2, I would become frustrated with my teammates in PUGs, I'd yell at teammates, and I'd blame others for my mistakes. I know a lot of people out there can relate, and I think that this video will help you to improve yourself. At the minimum, I hope that this video will be the start of some healthy discussion and that we can talk together about this as a community. The video is a bit long (about 40 minutes) and it doesn't apply directly to TF2, but it's enjoyable. Check out his other videos too!

one thing we can definitely learn from this is, if you're playing tf2 with mr sline he is always 100% responsible for when bad things happen and always the one to blame

The problem is that some of this doesn't apply when you have to think as a team rather than an individual. People usually get frustrated not because "the other is the reason they died" but because they don't operate in the same way you have in mind the team should operate, causing conflict.

This concept is not applicable in the way you are implying it is. Leo's message is simple: you are 100% in control of how you choose to react to the present moment. It is not "You are 100% in control of the environment." or "You are 100% in control of the things that happen to you." It is crucial to understand this distinction. He is trying to tell people that they don't have to become victims; he is trying to give victims control back in their lives.

Becoming frustrated and yelling at teammates does not forfeit your control in the present moment, it just makes you unpleasant. Blaming others for your mistake does forfeit your control in the present moment (at the time). A competitor thrives to be as efficient as possible. Theoretically there is a series of events each teammate must endure in order to be most efficient and the closer a team is to that curriculum the better they will be. What exactly is the most efficient way to play is an entirely different discussion. So when you blame others for your mistake were you aware of your mistake at the time? Of course not. The fact that you are blaming another shows that you are not yet aware of your mistake. As one learns the game, they begin to understand how to play the game more efficiently. When a mistake is perceived they must be addressed to be resolved and this entails blaming yourself or others. Blame often has a negative connotation but it doesn't need to. To blame is to simply find fault with. There is no insult, harm or shame. These are the feelings people often attach to blame. When a teammate is playing incorrectly you don't simply ignore the problem and work around their flaw. I mean you can, but you won't get anywhere like that. A team needs to be able work together and address their deficiencies.
