How long do Newbie Mixes typically last? My parents are strict about how much time I get to play TF2 on weekdays (only an hour), and while I want to participate in these, I'm afraid of it going over my time limit and leaving halfway through. Can anybody give me a rough estimate of how long these can last at max? Thanks in advance!

If you're new to the mixes, you're probably going to be picked first by the admins so you shouldn't worry too much about wasting time in mumble, but in pre-game the coaches might have to teach players rollouts, calls, etc. so that extends the time. The mixes are usually balanced, but sometimes they do end up having one team dominate the other. I would still allocate around 30-45 minutes since the waiting time in pre-game can last a while. If you really need to leave, that's fine since there should be people able to sub in. I would recommend going into mumble a bit earlier than the start time (9 EST/6 PST) so you'll be there for the first mix. And don't be afraid to talk to the admins about your circumstances.

Yeah it usually takes right around an hour for you to get drafted/ pre-game coached/ play the game/ get feedback. Sometimes a bit more sometimes a bit less. If you need to hop out towards the end, the coach can just hop on your spot without too big of a deal being made.
It's all about fun so just come by, play, and don't worry about it. :)

Thanks a bunch. Yeah, this in my first mix, and I'm super pumped, especially considering the fact that I enjoy all the 6s class, so I won't even been upset if I'm placed on Medic. Thanks again for going into detail. I'm not at all worried when it comes to pre game talk though, since that doesn't count as time, since I'm not actively playing.

My time constraints is a primary reason that I've never played in these before, let alone played in ESEA or CEVO, though I definately want to. Part of that is due in part to the fact that I have a job and high school. :(

Newbie Mixes are awesome if you're the least bit interested in 6v6, or even if you've begun playing already and feel like you want to learn more! The people who coach are all very skilled players who have played at a high level, and they're incredibly smart and good teachers.
