The invite poll is going to be up soon, supposedly as early as tonight, so I thought it might be prudent to talk with the community about the fact that I really do not want to play in invite.
Competitive TF2 is something that my team does in the evenings in order to have fun and spend time with some friends. It's a casual activity, you know...like a video game. We lack the time, motivation, and skill to be competitive in invite, as well as the means to travel to the LAN if we were to make it (we would not).
From what I hear, killing is having a hard time finding teams to be in the poll, and that's probably because they also know that the division is a bleak black hole of frustration from which no fun can escape.
I'm not sure who will be in the poll, but I urge you to vote Anyone Else But DTP 2012, because we will not play. Thanks. Sorry.

I recently benched myself because I got a job that works me 30 hours a week on top of the classes I already take. In addition my work week is completely random and doesn't end till 2am (restaurant/bar job); which isn't a good thing when I have to schedule 2 matches per week.
Thanks for caring <3

down to pound probably best choice in IM, depending on xensity's roster situation.

tfw you could have roster rid this team even though you knew they weren't going to win IM but what you didn't know was they would be in the invite poll and if they wanted it they could have had a real shot at going into invite but they dont want it and why do you do this to me peter

i play for fun in invite with friends. i think everybody does. our team put in average about one and a half hours of tf2 a night. if you can't dedicate that small amount of time to playing then i don't see how playing in im is any better. sorry but if you're best fit team to play in invite them you should be the one playing in it. if you're going to break up because you don't want to play in it then go ahead. im going to vote whichever team seems like they would be the most competitive. sandbagging in im is retarded and not wanting to play invite because you don't want to lose and put in effort to get better is dumb. this is the kind of attitude that makes tf2 seem like a joke. in cs top main teams thrive at the chance to play invite but here in tf2 teams refuse to play in it because they don't want to lose. anyway like i said i'll see whos in the poll but im not going to not vote for you just becuase you don't want to lose matches and put in effort to getting better. you're playing tf2 competitively which means you should be trying to improve and play against better competition.

Not everyone has the luxury of being harbleu, or being part of the best team ever to play tf2. I assume that they think they would be like the ducks, in that they would not compete, and would not contribute to the division. While they're all great players, if they don't think they will be able to compete with the practice schedule they have, then you can't really ask any more of them.

i completely understand where doggles is coming from but...
if your only losses are (in playoffs and reg season) to the top 2 finishers in IM, it's a sign you're ready for better comp.

Harbleu you have a right to vote for whoever you like, but i don't particularly care how you feel about whether i want to "put in effort to get better". Every team has their own motivations for playing this game and I don't question them. Like for example, some people might want so desperately to win that they cut every weak link on their team every season until they are the best, or offer players 500 dollars to play for them, or play with a group of 5 people who resent them and talk shit behind their backs to everyone who will listen, and I think that's just swell.
I honestly don't think we're too good for IM. We very well may be the best choice for the poll, but thats due to lack of teams. Sorry half the teams died in Invite and nobody wants to fill the spots (because its not fun).

why wouldn't you wanna play invite if you have the chance? yeah obviously its not fun to get obliterated by the teams that are pretty much LAN bound from the get-go but it would be better to learn from it and challenge yourselves to improve since you're playing comp regardless.
not to sound like a dick but the competition gets weaker in certain divisions as the seasons progress, you guys stay in IM and you'll just have more matches against open teams that just got moved up that you will more than likely have no problem just rolling over, so is it gonna be fun for them? no probably not. so why is it any better for you to stomp new IM teams? so you wont have to put as much time practicing because you will have weaker competition compared to playing in invite, like harb said it would be much pretty like the other IM teams in the past that completely destroy all the new comers.

what makes you hate invite so much? had a bad experience? plenty of players have fun playing in invite, you are just making yourself look like an idiot by saying it isn't fun. i really don't care if you don't want to play invite or not. if you get voted into invite you have three options i see. put in effort to get better and have fun, not put in effort and go 0-16, or break up and have another team take your spot.

Once again I think you guys are having trouble understanding that some people reach a point where they are no longer interested in striving to be a top team, but still enjoy playing the video game with their friends. If IM offered no challenge I would not be interested in playing there either (we were denied the spot last season for example), but it does. We scrim exclusively against IM teams on a nightly basis, and just finished a fun challenging season, and I doubt these teams we play would tell you they are unfairly matched.
Also, I happened to catch a few of your casts this season, and I have to say, you do come off as a bit of a dick sometimes. A lot of the trash talk I heard and read from you lately about mid level teams and players is pretty unwarranted, and I think if you were actively trying to compete in the scene you might find out that you are incorrect about teams getting worse over time.

The players that have fun in invite are the ones that are currently winning, there are almost no exceptions to this rule. Everyone who did not do well last season died, and nobody wants to replace them. It's not just me or my team.
Think back to the last invite team you played for that was not a success. Did you finish the season and stick it out and learn and improve, or did you just quit and try to scramble better players the next season?

But seriously, i'd rather have a league of teams that want to be there and feel ready to try it rather than force teams out... the teams that want to be there will take it much more seriously and have incentive to tough it out... it's esea-invite and shouldn't they be allowed to decline their invite if they so chose, the only exception is if they absolutely massacred IM.
With that being said dtp is quite good and could hang in invite in my opinion

6 team invite

There's no justification for 4+ teams being totally outdone by the top 2-3 teams every season
