What resolution?

Currently I am playing on a 1280 by 1024 monitor, but I would like to upgrade. The time has come, and I am looking at either:

I know the resolutions are different, but what are your opinions?

Definitely go for 1080p if you can (the 22W17D that you linked).

120/144hz screens seem out of your price range based on what you linked, but you should definitely plan to get one of those for TF2!

Personally, I'd go for the 1920x1080. Those monitors are both extremely similar (brightness, dynamic contrast ratio, refresh rate) except the native resolutions. However, the dot pitch for the 1920x1080 one is higher (102.4 pi/in vs. 91.8 pi/in), which usually results in sharper image. Both are 16:9 aspect ratio, so if you don't like 1920x1080 on the 21.5" you could always do 1600x900, but please note that there will always be distortion on an LCD display when you use a non-native resolution.

I'd much sooner pick the 1080p monitor from what you picked. That one is actually a TN panel and you'll get much clearer pixel transitions for FPS games.
