That simon play, he managed to not airblast a single time, I can't even comprehend...
That was definitely not worthy of putting in the video. Even if the event was awesome and raised a lot of money for charity, it still discredits the video as a whole and probably pisses off a lot of your viewers who I am sure sent better clips than that, because literally any clip would have been better than that

While technically speaking it wasn't a skilled play. As far as top plays goes, it was a fairly important play to that match at very least that round, to a charity, and was seen by several people. As far as plays goes that was pretty big even if it required minimum skill.

If you absolutely wanted to include something from Arena Respawn why include a shitty clip? Surely at least something better happened anytime else...?
I'm not against unorthodox clips but I feel like you only put that in there because it was a famous person doing it.

Sorry, but this still doesn't make this better. Literally anyone with 10 hours into tf2 could have done that.

This was in the TF2mixup 7 charity tournament, Simon's team had lost the first match 0-7 and this clip starts at their second match being 0-6 behind. Simon switches to pyro, that's when this clip starts.
I know it doesn't look very "competitive", but I decided to leave it in as I didn't have any alternatives. None of the remaining submissions were any better. Including the two TF2mixup clips we managed to get 10, I really don't like to combine / skip months.
I'm sure it'll get much better once all leagues are on their way again.

that heavy had the game sense of a door knob, how do you not turn around for a split second to kill a pyro

And the clip the demo got for juggling the other demo and landed 1 somewhat lucky airshot was better? Just saying most top10s don't really have "plays" in them that were particularly important to their match or even that round. At least the pyro play won the round for that team.

Might as well have skipped putting all that good editing work for December. You really need good plays, not a Heavy and Pyro pressing W+M1.

In the future I think it would be a better choice to include not very impressive frags but important moments like the Simon clip as a bonus thing/shout out after the rest of the frags in order to still spread awareness about cool TF2 events like the charity game while not detracting from the quality of the clips.

If there is such a lack of content to where the concept of "top 10" stops being about the best clips of the month and more about "just whatever we get", maybe the series should either cease to be or become annual/seasonal. At this point, personally, I'd be much more interested in a series showcasing the top 10 plays of the ESEA season. It doesn't necessarily need to be ESEA only, but my point is a monthly top 10 series is no longer near the same quality it used to be, and changes should be considered.
edit: I am editing this to make it clear that I am not hating on this recent submission. I enjoyed each clip for what they were individually; however, combined, they do not make a sufficient "top 10".

Star had some pretty good moments, should have put one of those in there instead of simon's w+m1 play.

Bit late with sound. But almost done now, scheduled to release next Friday (6th Feb).

I understand your feedback. But we're running a YouTube channel and one of the most important things in that is consistency. People need to be able to expect a Top10 every month (and I want them to). If we reduce the amount of videos (once per season or even year), the amount of submissions will go down. You'll end up with one average Top10 per season, but nothing more. More videos (Top10s and MoGs) = more submissions = higher quality videos. A big gap in videos means people think we quit or something and in their mind it won't be worth it to submit any clips, since they don't expect they would get used or they simply forget about us.
Either way maybe there's a possibility of changing the regulations per month. In case of a December / months with no league action going on, we could use non-league/tournament plays... That should give us a bit more and better clips. Thoughts?

also having a top ten plays of the month almost makes us feel like a real esport

Top 10s come out late or get skipped a lot if you're aiming for consistency. Most months the top 10 is from like 3 or 4 months ago and a decent amount of the time there is no top 10

Every month in 2014 is on YouTube except November which is coming in a week. There wasn't a Top10 skipped anymore since April 2013. Yes they have been late sometimes, but that's just because we need to do this in our free time and there sometimes are complications like demos breaking down.

Considering the channel we're discussing here, if consistency is what keeps it popular, there is something wrong if you believe a top 10 series is what is needed. It's not. For the entire time this channel has been alive, I have not remembered it as "the channel that brings us the best ten plays of each month in the year". It has been a channel, to me, that is still going because it covers competitive TF2 (and some stuff non-competitive related) as a whole. Making a significant change to a mere section of that whole, especially for the better, will not harm your channel. This is more so when your channel is not mostly focused on the said subject that needs to be changed.

We just had a 70 fov clip in Top 10 plays.
Pack it up, game's over.

idk it kinda defeats the purpose of "consistent monthly top 10 videos" when a huge majority of them are either multiple months late or u guys end up releasing like 4 in one month
i get its a lot of work to go through so many demos but if u really are not getting as many clips as u used to a simple schedule would fix that. i dont think u should release a video more than 1 month after that actual month (aka release a may video no later than the end of june)

Sad to see u guys struggling with the amount of submissions.
On times like these, why not just go over some STV demos from ESEA-I or something? Beater does this and most of the frags he puts up on his videos are better than the ones you guys are working on.
