For all you guys and gals who bought ARMA 2 to play dayz, there is an awesome new mod out called wasteland. You don't need to download anything, just remove all the launch options for dayz and open operation arrowhead, filter "wasteland" in the server browser. Enjoy!

Wasteland is basically 3 teams (blufor, opfor, independent) all fighting against each other. There are tons of random vehicles all over. Every vehicle and weapon available in ARMA 2 is in this mod. Weapons can only be found in cars, and weapon crates which randomly spawn around the map, and also as objectives. These objectives randomly pop up from time to time, and range from things like "capture the supply drop", to securing an a helicopter or tank. Yes I said tank. If you secure it, you now have a working tank. There are usually NPCs that spawn to guard objectives and they also spawn around the map randomly from time to time. The game also features Garrysmod-ish base building.

Wasteland is very new, and they plan to add hive servers like dayz to save progress and stuff, but for now everything resets on server restarts, and if u log out you spawn in fresh every time. It is still a ton of fun, and although there are hackers it really doesn't matter because you are basically going all Rambo 100% of the time since nothing saves.

Oh and also, more dayz news. The stand alone game is being targeted for release this month, through steam and they are using VAC instead of fucking battle eye to deal with hackers. Check out all the details, sounds amazing.
