Ok, before the gun mettle update i had 60 constant fps with high textures and viewmodels, but when the gun mettle update came out, my fps are 20 even with no-hats and m0res highframes, with that configs I should get +300fps.
About my mac:
I use OS X Yosemite version 10.10.
iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2012 1920 x 1080)
Processor: 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5.
Memory: 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3.
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M 512 MB.
1 TB of Storage.
8gb of memory.

help :(

You might wanna try using some of comanglias configs as they are more updated that Chris', also the no hats/no hat effects mods would be worth a shot.

still having low fps, comanglia's config is better but the fps are almost the same :( Any reason why did the fps went down in 2 years?

Maybe try getting boot camp, or even try resetting your pram and smc. I personally have a 2008 iMac so even worse :/
I heard Yosemite is quite bad and negatively effects your fps somehow, although I'm not sure if this is true

I've been playing on my macbook pro for the past few weeks. Bootcamp does get better FPS, and if I were to use it to play properly I'd say that the lack of cross-platform p-rec (and esea client for all you americans out there) kinda ruins using unix based systems for playing comp tf2.

What kind of Mac is this? Macbook? iMac?

Either way get yourself a copy of Windows. I have more consistent FPS on windows then i do on mac OS on the same systems.

With a proper config you should be running way more frames then that with an i5 processor, you really need to just part your hard drive and install windows. TF2 will run like butter man. I can get a constant 120 frames on my 2010 MacBook Pro with an i3 processor with a partioned hard drive. I mean it's not even a solid state

to be fair, these are iMacs, which run mobile i5s which are basically underclocked desktop i3s

edit: nvm, late 2012, it's a very underclocked desktop ivy bridge i5

don't forget that they've added new features that make the game more demanding on some machines, plus i doubt they maintain the OS X builds as well with such a small team now
