So I've been using lawena for awhile to record tf2 but recently its caused a lot of problems, and no search seems to have an answer to this. But after rendering the video in Virtual Dub I get this weird looking thing.

I don't know if its lawena or vdub, but the .avi is always messed up for me.

Have you tried manually recording? It could be a VirtualDub problem rather than Lawena. Is this a consistent problem, or off and on?

Its a consistent problem now, and I agree it may be more of a VirtualDub problem. I recorded a little bit with Fraps, and thats fine. So I'm not sure whats wrong at this point.

OBS is fine too, I guess its VirtualDub, but nothing on their forums comes up either.

I had that problem too, but I forgot how I fixed it :x I think it was the encoder I chose? Or something along those lines. Tinker with your settings.

it happens before the compression though, like if I play the .avi from virtualdub it shows the same thing, and even when I go to compress it, this happens.

Not sure what I did, but I fixed it. Now if only the audio with vdms worked :(

A couple things could have been causing that issue. It was either a corrupt video codec that was encoding the video wrong so no players could un-encode it, or you were saving it as an avi and the file size was above 4GB (which results in a corrupt video if it isn't uncompressed).

I've vdubbed plenty of tgas that came out above 4GB, so it's probably not that. What video codec(s) do you use?
