After the recent update my tf2 randomly caps at 15/30 fps which is unplayable. It happens af random times, sometimes after 5 minutes, sometimes after an hour. Does anyone have the same problem or knows any fix?

sounds like something a laptop's power saving mode would do.

sounds like something is forcing vsync on, or your video card is overheating and it has a safe mode.

Sounds realistic, I'll check the temp if it happens again, thanks.

Are you running in windowed mode with Aero on? If so, and you use an AMD/ATI card, then there's nothing you can do besides turn Aero off (or download software that's illegal in ESEA). With Nvidia's software you can shut off Aero's vsync.

I disable Aero with RadeonPro when I start the game and I run fullscreen.

I just experienced this. I am not on a laptop, not running any GFX card software, and my computer has always been on max performance. This has never happened to me before but just happened while I was DMing. It makes the game absolutely unplayable.

I just checked SpeedFan and the temperature on my GPU was 70C so it's not overheating (and even if it was the driver would crash first as a safety feature).

Depending on what CPU brand you have, try turning off Turbo Core (AMD) or Turbo Boost (intel) in your BIOs.
