http://obsproject.com is the best free software. For most purposes it will do just fine.
Xsplit has some more features but you have to subscribe for it.

John once told me OBS is broken but they update it rather frequently and seems to work just fine now.

as somebody who paid for xplit and has tried every combination of them on a 4.7 ghz i5 2500k, obs alone gives me the best performance (no dxtory)

No, I told you hat VoDs were broken because OBS had a time stamping issue. I never once stated that the software itself was broken.
