Reports are circulating on Twitter Sunday that a monkey in a Shearling winter coat was caught in the Toronto Ikea near Leslie street.
The Toronto Police say that it is unclear how the monkey got inside the Ikea or why it was there, the CBC reports.
Global news confirmed that the monkey had been taken into custody by animal services.
In Toronto, monkeys such as this one are illegal to have as pets.
“It was very bizarre to see a real live monkey there,” witness Bronwyn Page told CTV news. “It was really small and just funny dressed in the coat.”

The owners, who were shopping in the store at the time, have come forward to claim the monkey, Toronto Police Sgt. Ed Dzingala told CBC News.
Dzingala said that the animal was in a car in the parking lot and it somehow let itself out of its crate. "It's a smart monkey," he said.
