I'd agree with the idea that if the map scores are centered the HUD should be changed to match. I think that could look good, but probably isn't worth the effort. If a centered overlay were to be used I'd like to see something like this:

I think this overlay is more 'busy' and distracting but offers aesthetic appeal and might be easier to follow for newer viewers, since Blu and Red each have a side of the screen devoted to them, which might be more intuitive. Overall I prefer the current setup but it might be nice to consider something like this.

Also, personally I dislike the current uber percentage setup: I think it would look nicer between the two teams if we were to keep the current layout.

SnivyHello

Over the past year or so, I've watched the TFTV casts and really enjoy the entertainment they bring to the crowd with the invite caliber action they provide. However, I feel like one thing that can improve it a bit is the stream overlay.

The current layout right now is nice and simplistic; it has enough information and doesn't have too many things on the screen. However, a thing I've noticed is the info that shows what map and what the score is. It's in the far right, and I feel that it pull my eyes away from the action going on in the center. Plus, it just feels a bit out of place.

My solution to make the overlay better would be to put the info on the center, so that info is clearly seen and you can see the action. An example would be a CSGO match. The info of the score and team names is in the center, and they had side info that isn't that important (Bo3, sponsors, yadayadayada) to the sides.

So here is my imagining of a better TFTV layout. Info is moved to the center, and side info can be moved in the corners or bottom. And you can see the round time and match time as well.

That's my opinion. Let me know what you think about it

I think that we could do something similar to dota/fightgames/anything else with Bo3s and simply put 2 (3 for Bo5) dots below them and illuminate them for when they win a set.
edit: I'm assuming people read the comment about shifting away from this layout in Bo3's etc.

komorebiI think this overlay is more 'busy' and distracting but offers aesthetic appeal and might be easier to follow for newer viewers, since Blu and Red each have a side of the screen devoted to them, which might be more intuitive. Overall I prefer the current setup but it might be nice to consider something like this.

A major consideration would be the fact that the killfeed is on the right side of the screen, which would unbalance the layout. However, if there was serious interest in pursuing this, I'm pretty sure a plugin module to split the killfeed to both sides of the screen could be created.

If it were split so that Blue and Red kills are on their respective sides that'd be sick! That would make it much easier to see who's dominating a fight, especially since this would allow twice as many kills to be displayed so a huge fight wouldn't cause kills to be rapidly displaced by more recent ones. Like I said, probably not worth the effort, if it's even possible, though.

It's definitely possible, just never been too seriously considered. I've considered it for Dead Ringer fixes, adding ubercharges to the kill feed, and so on.

Actually I don't think the killfeed would be weird at all, you're essentially proposing a direct copy of the CSGO layout at that point. Killfeed top right, everything else on one side or the other. Works for them, but there's definitely less info about previous maps on the screen.

The continuity between the spectator elements of CSGO and TF2 could be beneficial if at some point we drew CSGO spectators, it would give a sense of familiarity to the ones not used to tf2.

I really like having all the players on one side. I don't want to have to constantly go all the way across the screen to compare health and player advantages. Information being balanced looking isn't the same as information being convenient and easy to read.
