We're afraid of the pain that the prequels caused us happening again.

For me though, this trailer was awesome.

From what I could tell, it seems as if the plot of this movie makes almost zero sense and will be so disconnected from the original trilogies story that it will be awful from a Star Wars fan's point of view. I'm very very concerned now.

Have you ever read some of the books? They take the star wars universe and kinda do what ever the fuck they want with it. Is it going to be good? Probably. Is is going to be set after EP6 with all the same characters and shit from the original? Fat chance. IMO its going to be a lot more like the fiction where creative liberties are taken, and who knows might be a good thing.

I thought the pre-Disney expanded universe was amazing and flowed with what you could reasonably expect (or at least what I would expect) to happen following EP 6. But having a random force sensitive clone trooper change sides and become a jedi asap (at least thats what it looked like to me) seemed very out of place. And not having Leia and Han Solo's kids in the mix (again could be wrong only a trailer) as Jedi seemed again very odd and inconsistent from what I would expect from the aftermath of EP 6.

Seems to me that the thinking was to recapture the novice vs. master dynamic from the original films with Luke vs. Vader. It does seem early here, but we don't know the context; he could pick up that saber from a fallen jedi he was just shadowing and feign to make a stand before being saved by something.

I think they are trying to alleviate the audience of the "magic jedi sword trick ninja" overload we saw in each of the prequels by returning the force to myth, and jedi's to legend. Not having the Solo twins does seem odd though. Maybe in later movies? Regardless, I am excited.

That's exactly what I thought as well, especially since he looks so fucking terrified

A going theory right now is somewhat related to this and he gets saved by Luke.

I dunno man, they've still intentionally avoided saying Rey's last name. I have a good feeling that she's descended from force-sensitives, if not Luke/Leia/Han.

Have they explained that thing she carries around, by the way? On the poster, where she's actually wielding it, they noticeably don't show the end of it. It really looks like a saberstaff to me. Hell, the way they line up Ren's saber with it on the poster could be a hint.

With the age of the former lead actors I wonder if it will be at a time when Luke already has kids with Mara Jade, or if they will abandon that completely.

didnt they de-canonize the entire EU to this point?

Obviously they'll bring chunks of it back but I don't think we can necessarily look to the books for lore

owldidnt they de-canonize the entire EU to this point?

Once Disney bought Star Wars, they retconned everything but the 6 movies and The Clone Wars TV series.

The new cannon is everything that's been made since then. The Star Wars Rebels TV show, the Star Wars Aftermath book, and all the new Marvel Star Wars comics that are coming out as well as Star Wars Battlefront.

They're definitely using the EU as a guide as to how things are going. Aftermath is similar to the EU post Jedi in that the Empire fractures without Palpatine's leadership and every Moff, Admiral, etc are all trying to claim leadership rolls and fighting each other, while the Rebellion becomes the New Republic.

The Force Awakens seems to take place during a rebuilding of the Empire at the hands of Kylo Ren.

I'm pretty sure the

Karlclone trooper stormtrooper

is actually one of the young stormtrooper trainees from the Star Wars: Rebels series, named Leonis, who meets Erza Bridger (the main protagonist) and helps him with a bit of spy work inside the training camps for young stormtroopers. But all I'm going off is that Star Wars: Rebels is set a little before the original trilogy and obviously there was plenty of time for him to have matured and grown to become a fully pledged stormtrooper.

Also they're both black
